July 30, 200817 yr Ok so i was in the fishing guild and a player asks what is a good site to upload videos, i tell him youtube to help the guy out and he goes and reports me. i know it was him because i went to view evidence and those are the only two things to show up. his name blocked out with where can i upload videos and me saying youtube. i was 24 hour muted and is my first ever offence. if this is what the game is coming to, i dont think i want to be apart of it. how low can you get, hes probably trying to become a player mod tricking people. anyone else ever experience anything like this? July 30, 200817 yr Appeal the offense. In your message state that the person who reported you should be banned for encouraging others to break the rules. Also, Jagex uses Youtube as their way of broadcasting the new HD client. And then at the end of the message at a nice little "Jagex's costumer support sucks".
July 30, 200817 yr Author its a non appealable offence because its only 24 hour mute, i tried Dragon Drops: 5 medium helmet, 3 left shield halfObby: Maul 1, Cape 1, Shield 1

July 31, 200817 yr That is the ultimate low. But you were still breaking the rules, regardless of how cruel of a trick that was.

July 31, 200817 yr Wow, surely if YouTube is advertising the word should be blocked? Jagex have their own YouTube channel, and their frontpage even has a link to their HD video on YouTube. If you said something like "www.youtube.com" fair enough, but surely if you can't say YouTube you can't say BBC or Amazon because its advertising. :? Retired Tip.It Crew Mapper.

July 31, 200817 yr Isn't you tube on a list that Jagex will allow to be said in game? I can't atm but someone should double check the reporting academy. [software Engineer] - [Ability Bar Suggestion] - [Gaming Enthusiast]
July 31, 200817 yr /Here is a quote from the RSOF. 6. "I have seen players discussing YouTube, an extremely popular video site. Is mentioning YouTube reportable?" No, you don't need to report if you just see the name YouTube mentioned. As you say, it's a well-known site and everyone's aware that it exists. No-one is harmed by simply mentioning it's name. The contents of YouTube videos may potentially be harmful though. So if someone is referring to a specific YouTube video, either by giving out the URL or by telling players what to search for, then you should report under Rule 11. The only exception is the videos on the official Jagex YouTube channel (thejagexchannel). Because we made the content, we know that it is safe so you don't need to report those. Now rub your banhammer wounds, and start complaining to Jagex. Though if you don't want to sound like a douche you could just message Jagex saying they made a mistake, so that you don't receive a black mark.
July 31, 200817 yr He was probably fishing for report fodder in a misguided attempt to become a mod. Or he was just a jerk. You might have a chance of successfully appealing, show that he was encouraging others to break rules. It might work.. :| There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.

July 31, 200817 yr Surely, you must see where you were in the wrong here. Regardless of how it's passed back and forth in banter, advertising just ain't allowed. Regardless, one should always err on the side of caution, especially when dealing with random jerks in the fishing guild. It's still a website being advertised. Naturally, Jagex shouldn't have punished him, but you could see where someone could have made a mistake. Assume nothing when it comes to the rules. WBMs and their ilk are out to get you in trouble, and the only way to marginalize that is to not give them a reason to go report-crazy. July 31, 200817 yr That is the ultimate low. But you were still breaking the rules, regardless of how cruel of a trick that was. I swear I saw somewhere either in the news posts or in the knowledge base that you could talk about youtube, funorb, and the Jagex official site, with one exception: you may talk about youtube in general, but you could not talk about the content of videos on youtube with the exception of the Jagex youtube channel. Apparently, it's not in the rules, so I guess the above is non-applicable and extinct. So, talking about ANY website must be against the rules -.- . Oh well, that little son of a [cabbage] needs to get a [cabbage] life. It's like when that guy on South Park started randomly killing everyone on World of Warcraft and Cartman said, "Don't you have anything better to do than going around online killing people?!" July 31, 200817 yr Some what off-topic, but I was wondering if it is an offense to refer someone to tip-it. I don't, but at times would like to. Seeing as how it is such a helpful site for the game. I mean honestly, tip-iters almost have an unfair advantage over players who do not know about fan sites for the game. I usually just tell people to Google Runescape fan site though. But this is not the only one, but usually comes up first, at leas for me.

But this is not the only one, but usually comes up first, at leas for me. At a tipit event a player asked a mod if it's alright to say, "HYT!" The mod said that anyone who says that is supposed to be muted  And since tipit is technically a fansit not endorsed by Jagex, it's not supposed to be mentioned. And seriously, although tipit is the best site for information out there, it's not the only one...I used 4 fansites: tipit, runehq, sal's realm, and rswiki. Tipit is inferior to rswiki in terms of information, but superior in community \ . But tipit has those handy-dandy calculators  (yet, sadly runehq has other calculators that tipit doesn't.) ANY mention of a website not endorsed by Jagex is mutable.
