Dire_Wolf
Sleepings bags :-# *dramatic music* :XD: :-# I was thinking that RSC players are the only people that can appreciate the value of a addy square. I dont value a addy square, but i value a Adamantine B axe as if it was a Godsword.... WolfhunterXZ
This sounds more like a rant to me. I'm an -old school- RSC person, but I don't think of myself as better. I do however take pride in having been around longer, but I don't look down on people. Well, only those who think they're totally awesome for having a party hat or santa hat. -.- Wolfy is Officially Retired.I miss you all (Well, mostly my friends n stuff)If you want to talk to me, send me a message, I check the boards daily. :D
dead_man_1
I can imagen how fun it was: When it was RSC: I mean it would be so little players. And everyone knew eachother almsot...that i like. Graphic = LAME!!! as for Old schools: If you clicked more, i know more than you about GWD! SO TAKE THAT :D AND ABOUT RS2: MELEING! But sorry about the post: meet a guy who were so provocing, and also i know Old school always find themself "Wiser"... You might know more, and experienced more. But dosn't mean your way better. So what do you know more than we do ? Ive been going to gwd quite alot. Alll bosses except zammy boss, I hate the poison =[
Makoto_the_Phoenix
The whole issue of players who call themselves "old school" and sit themselves on a pedestal higher than the rest of the RS community is hypocritical. Sure, I've been here since Halloweeen Masks, Santa hats, Bunny ears and the Scythe, but in the end, it doesn't mean a damn thing. Just keep it in mind -- in the end, it doesn't matter how long you've played; all that matters is that you enjoyed playing. harper128
I can, to some extent, understand the OP's point in that several of the people still ranting about how RS is ruined now that wildy pvp has been removed use the claim of how they have been around since RSC and that they are "old school" as justification for how they know that RS has been ruined and how anyone who has not been around that long doesn't have a clue. A few things to remember, a fool who has grown old is still a fool. And, men learn from their experiences, wise men (and women) learn from the experiences of others. SomeWelshGuy
I partially agree. By no means are all older player jerks, sure, some may be, but I bet you there are more new player jerks. If it wasn't for them, there would be no RuneScape today. But nonetheless, It really gets on my nerves when you are in a rant about something and someone uses "Shutup, I've been playing since RS Classic. You know nothing." as an excuse. Not many do it, but some do. Remember, if it wasn't for the old players RuneScape wouldn't be here today, but if it wasn't for the new players RuneScape wouldn't be like it is today. Sure, some bad things would be gone, but some really good things would be gone, too. P.S. Just think, in two years time you can use "Shutup, when I joined I used tutorial island, not some dragon tutorial thing. You know nothing." as an excuse  EDIT: Also, looking through the rants forum, found this said by someone: I can tell none of you are any oldschool players, just RS2 products with no clue and eat everything that gets throwen at you. That REALLY gets on my nerves. Retired Tip.It Crew Mapper.

Tim
If you had played in RSC you would know how annoying it is to hear people ranting over how you are not better than them. i'd have to say that is the one thing that pissed me off souly as i play to enjoy, to brag about power-leveling levels for capes or buying useless items for looks. pritty much Makoto_the_Phoenix hit the nail right on the head. the idea of a game is to Enjoy it, not try to prove yourself to 100k players that your skills are better. I only played about 2 months on RSC and lost the account + Red Phat so personally i dont give two-tails over that but a phat could make things easier to train. but thats the price ye'r get for not playing since 2002 with dial up at the speed of 20kb/s at your nanna's. : Popoto.~<
fenrir321
I've seen about 4 of these guys on Rants forums complaining about the wildy updates and saying Jagex owes them a wilderness just because they've been around for 7+ years. Then again, I've only known about 5 or 6, the other two were actually quite nice. Like all the posts above me, we can't judge people by a stereotype, even if it's the vast majority of a group, you still can't judge every single person based on the actions of others. But I for one think all people who like Zammy, Sara, and Arma are noobish  (Jking  \ )
Imamonkey
I remember certing yew logs. That's five logs, and a cert of yew logs going for 1k. And then hearing people piss and moan about yew logs only going for 300 each, and you could note em. Well I had to run to the certer in Ardougne, then bank them, and they were only going for 200 each log. I remember when a Rune two hander went for a cool mil. Yep, rune two handers were 1 million at one time. The other day I was at the barrier gate at Port Phasmatys trying to enter the city. A guy asked me a question and I honestly did not notice. He proceeded to tell me what a high level arrogant sob I was and how I thought I was better. I told this guy, sorry, I honestly did not notice. And I proceeded to tell him how I would have helped him had he not handled me the way he did. But since he felt the need to tell me what an arrogant sob I was, i did not feel the need to help him. I am quick to act the same way people act to me. I don't mind helping some one out, telling them where something is, or how to do something. But my attitude changes quick. You handle me rough, I feel no need to be helpful to you. Sometimes you just need to stop and think, just because someone is playing, and they may actually be sitting at the computer playing as I was. Does not mean they notice every little detail of what is going on at the moment. Edit: I by no means think I am better than a newer player. But yes, older players usually have learned a little something. For example, and I realize this is by no means ownness or awsomeness. But I let my membership lapse for two days, and I made a new account for kicks and giggles. In two days I had 302 skill total, and this was by no means two of my better playing days. I had full black and a power ammy, might I add they have drastically dropped in price, and I had 40 crafting and 31 smithing. I didn't make one single stinkin piece of pottery either. I remember when 500 skill total on f2p was a pretty high milestone. I remember when it seemed hard to get full black and a power ammy. Nowadays it is nothing. But that comes from the experience and the market of today has a certain role. The game was harder. I do miss being able to power mine like you could in the day on RSC though. You could have a full inventory, lets say of iron ore, and you could sit there at the iron rocks and keep mining. With a full inventory you could still mine, the ores would just fall on the ground. Some things were easier, but some of these older players might have learned a little something, and depending on how they are treated, might just depend on how many little tips and tricks of the trade they are willing to let slip past their little pixilated lips? JRD111
Yeah I'm post classic. Post rs2 really. Personally never heard anyone bragging to be pre rs2. Personally never cared if people talked down their nose at me because their pixels are prettier/more impressive or perhaps older than mine. To me "old school" translates to "head start". Better go catch up. GT: JRD is AvT YT: hatethegamer Youtube has nothing on it atm, but getting HD PVR within a month, so watch this space.
ryles
i have been playing since december 2001 and i would only play the "old school" card when some1 is being an [wagon] and calling me noob for no reason lol. i think we do deserve more respect for our achievements as we didnt have the "make x" or "make all" options. we had to do everything one click at a time and that in my opinion makes some of our stuff more of an achievement than 2days ppl wif 99 skills who fly to it within a matter of weeks and dont care for the skill. i get annoyed when lvl 100+ combat ppl think they are better than every1 else. 200TH TO 99 COOKING, JULY '
Zierro
I don't have a problem with Old School pride. I don't have a problem with any sort of pride whatsoever - everyone should personally be happy about who they are/what they accomplished. The problem I do have is when some people use their pride against others: "Haha I'm old school and you're not!"
Duke_Kaleb
Guess I'm stuck up then... I began playing Runescape 2 weeks after it was first released. I got into it because my friend played the pre-cursor to it, DeviousMud. I'm proud to say I've been playing that long, and I like when I find other players who played back then, and I discuss the 'good' times with them. Guess it's all just a matter of your opinion. SnWRifleman
You don't see many because most of them either quit or play RSC. I play RS2 mainly, but every so often, I'll get on RSC and chat. And don't make generalizations like that. Because 9/10 of them are like that, doesn't mean the other 1/10 are like that. loi86
I started around in 2003-2004 and I know what you mean, a a lot of them have said stuff like this "Yeah, I remember the good old days when there was only 200 people...blah,blah,blah, I wish they would have never advertised on miniclip, blah, blah, blah, I have no life so I just stand here and talk." To the RSC player's do you think anyone cares about your life? Retired from Runescape September 1, 2008

Bauke
RSC was a great experience. It was just totally different to what RS is nowadays. Not only in gameplay and graphics, but also in community. I think it's great to have had the experience of playing in the early days. I can remember the lands of Asgarnia being added to the game... ahh, those were the days. Well, it's all just nostalgic really. I wouldn't play it again if I could. Nevertheless, cocky people that thing they're better just because they played RSC don't really deserve any respect. I still like to judge people based on the way they act, not by parameters like RSC experience, age, or whatever reason you can find for prejudice.
