Can Jagex Detec Autoers?

Featured Replies

I am just curious, i don't Auto...just curious.

If they can how??

They can. I once tried to use one (I was some 12 year old narb back then, I still have 7 black marks from that period :-#), and once in a while some warning screen would pop up about how using bots was against the rules and that it might get me banned and stuff.

Silly me just X'd out that screen and continued macroing #-o

Reports from players.

And Im sure they have a system that looks to see if your sitting there doing the same activities over, and over, and over, most likely the places you click, if your clicking the same spot on a rock, your an auto.

They can detect them.. Somehow.

My brothers friend actually plays, and while he was on at our house, auto-crafting bracelets like a month ago, he got banned on the spot. Glad it wasn't traced back to my IP, but I've seen it in person.

Being banned can depends on a number of things.

Players around.

Jagex's crankieness

The detectability of a script.

The amount of time the account is online. (18 hours a day looks fishy)

If you have one that just clicks on the same jewelry in your inventory, Jagex will notice.

But, if you have one that talks, responds to trades, lvl questions, and randomly clicks on different jewelry, Iv known friends who've had macros like that running for weeks. (would stop in every few days to tell me what lvl he was -.- )

They can detect scripts by your clicking patern. If you click with exactly the same intervals each time, it's obvious you're using a macro. I know someone that got banned for that when he was clicking very repetitively. Luckily he could appeal, but it shows what kind of tools they have. Also, I reckon they're able to detect auto-typers the same way.

they can't detect an "autoer". However they can detect "autoing-behaviour".....

There are a few exceptions to this rule: some older autoers actually sent a message saying "hey I'm this program, you know that program that macros!". However anybody worth his salt would write his custom bot in C++ (or even better assembler) when he wants to auto!

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Yea, when i was a noob, i used an auto-clicker to mine.

Got 10.0 black marks =/

Yes.. they can detect them lol. Good ever since :D

I don't have any personal experience, (and I didn't read the rest of this thread) but I think they can do pretty good. They say they can detect them, and autoers are hardly even around since the days of RWT. My brother (who downloads autoers... and the viruses that come with them... AND refuses to admit that he downloaded them EVEN AFTER I personally delete all the files, only to see them return some time later :wall: ) is constantly getting banned and starting new accounts and stuff like that, which leads me to believe that he is in fact being found out, and banned for it.

its eaasy to detect autoers..

to jagex, its easier thna detecting noobs

Actually, its not. If you can auto in RS, it means you already passed three of their best defenses.

1. Auto refreshing screen, so that means your using a script.

2. Their randoms.

and

3. A server sided game.

Then it gets difficult to discern which is a botter and which isn't. The only way i can think of to tell the difference is:

-Time Repetition

-Talking

-Action Repetition, like eating at the exact moment you reach under 18hp, or a 2 second pause between every magic cast.

As Jagex has already stated, they try and take out groups of bots, not just one. So they check your background, ip, check which accounts you've made near the time the bot was made, check up on stats, playing time, and then they just crack down on every bot you have made or created. That way, you get discouraged and stop botting.

I think most of their informants come from player reports.

Somehow, but they don't reveal information about that.
