DEGRADEABLE ARMOR

Never, ever leave RuneScape for World of Warcraft. You will probably hate it, since just about everything degrades. It's like that in a lot of MMOs, actually.

The degrading isn't that bad, anyway. For the full set, it costs less than 30k an hour, which you can easily make through skills or combat. The effectiveness of the armor makes those low costs very worth it.

Also, look at your keyboard lights. Is one with an "A" or the words "Caps Lock" next to it turned on? Yeah, I thought so. Press the Caps Lock button. We don't want to see your excessive caps.

When you have high level Smithing, you can repair it for a portion of the original cost in your POH. The higher your Smithing, the more you save. To be honest, I think I save more money by not having to use up so much food than I have to spend on repairing it. The annoying part is when you have to stop and take the time to repair it though. :x

imagine derepid armour over hundreds of years old, it has been moved from its resting place and been used in battle where it is being bashed a smashed by giant sword used by the gods themselves, of course its not gonna need repairing, thats just silly

I believe that it was also one of the first attempts at a money sink. It's great armor so everyone wants it, but it degrades, so there is a continual upkeep payment. Therefore at least some of the cash that it helps you to bring in is being taken back out of the system.

Without it degrading over time, most degradable armor and weapons would be far too powerful, and far too easy/inexpensive to use... And besides, in quite a few MMOs and RPGs, almost everything degrades. So don't ever try playing Oblivion or WoW.. :|

There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.

Qft. And Oblivion owns all.

Imo, everything should degrade in Rs. Would make smithing useful.

I believe they degrade because it is...ancient armour? You expect extremely old armour to NOT be fragile and easily damaged?

It's all in the lore, I believe. So we just gotta deal with it. And like someone said already, get your smithing up so you can lessen the cost of repairing it!

And nerd attack, i know how to type. Thank You. 8-)

You certainly don't know how to use your common sense, that's for sure.

Barrows has been out for years, you're just discovering that it degrades now?

Soemones not going to like Diablo:3, or any other diablo game for that matter since all but 4 types of items degrade (rings, ammulets, throwing potions, and items with a zod rune/indestructable attribule).

Also, they made it degrade because its good armour. It called a 'trade off' or 'give and take'. Itrs good armour so it needs a fault to balence it.

You couldn't trade much then, seeing as people don't repair armour every 5 minutes.

Anyways, It was a money sink, along with crystal bow/sheild, and construction.

Come to my Clan chat (I'm there if I'm online) if you wish to borrow a Green H'ween mask, Blue H'ween Mask, Red H'ween Mask, or Santa for a reasonable price.

Give me Torags over Dragon armor any day of the week. Torags is around a million gold. Dragon is around 8 to 10 million. (Just an effin guess, can't be assed to look it up. So I don't wanna hear some freak going "OMG its this yada yada amount) I repaired my Torags a couple of days ago, and it cost me approximately 150k. You get approximately 15 hours of combat.

Let's see, that means I get around 800 hours of combat before it approaches the cost of Dragon at 8 mill.

Hmmm...Torags is better than Dragon, looks cooler, I get an [wagon] load of combat time before it approaches the cost of Dragon, and the cost is deferred over time making it easier to afford..

What were you [bleep]in about again?

That's true. Instead of simply breaking over time and use, rs has this nice thing where having a variety of skills matters. Smithing comes in play right here, where you wanna wear barrows, but you're so damned cheap that your wallet is already in tears after the first two syllabals in degradeable. If your smithing is high, your wallet won't cry.
