Hi,

 

I noticed that there is a thread talking about how to record RS using hypercam, but Hypercam has a small water mark in the corner. Wheras Camstudio is completely free for life without any watermark, it also has a lot more features than Hypercam.

 

 

 

Step 1. To download Camstudio (Virus free, scanned multiple times with 3 different anti viruses) Just click here and the download will automatically start (from the official Camstudio website):

Step 2. Click the install file and set up Camstudio (Takes under a minute). Open it up.

 

 

 

Step 3. There are two ways that you can record Runescape, you can make the camera follow your mouse, or you can make it stay in one place (I suggest making it stay in one place for recording Runescape). To set the area you want to record, go Region -> Fixed Region.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Then click "Select" and drag around the area you want to record.

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you want the Region to follow your mouse, go Options -> Enable Autopan.

 

 

 

Step 4. To start recording, you can either click the red circle in the Camstudio screen or you can set up keyboard shortcuts. To do this go Options -> Keyboard Shortcuts. Then set it to what you want and record away. If you want Audio, this can be turned in by clicking the "Record Audio" option in the Options tabs.

 

 

 

Step 5. Stop recording by pressing the blue square in the Camstudio interface or using a keyboard shortcut and a window will popup. This is the save window, name the file and choose where you want to save it and you are ready to watch your video.

Thanks for this. I agree i use camstudio all the time and it is way better than hypercam.

Ever thought of the other alternative? VirtualDub, cropping it is really useful and you can also cut out sections that you no longer want, killing two birds with one stone. Just a thought.

VirtualDub is good, and this one is sufficient. Take your pick.

Youtube+searching = solves a certain hypercam problem.

I've been using this for a while. Opensource, too :)

That thread has no relevance, cause it gives no help at all...and the other ones about cracking hypercam are exactly the same. This is the best imo. And if you think otherwise, good for you.

Wait, VDub also acts as a screen capture utility?

I like this Open Source software, but it lacks in features and I find the bugs to be intolerable when they pop-up.

 

 

 

To be honest. I just use my Dazzle with the help of my bag of random cables that plug things into other things :

I don't really care about the Unregisterd Hypercam thing so I use hypercam anyway. But, if I want a clearer quality, I use SnagIt.

I use Camtasia or when I'm in full screen I use Fraps.

Plenty of free screen recorders without watermarks. Google is there to help you find them.
