brainymidget
If you don't wanna spend your money on anything else, then go ahead and buy it. But 20m is a lot when you only have 30m so unless you really want it, I'd suggest buying a lot of other smaller things that will probably turn out better than the DFS. Lenticular_J
From what I know, it's one damn fine shield. If you do things that need shielding, go for it. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
IeatWindex
Imo, no. My friend lent me one for a long time, good, but not worth the money. I'd either get a gs or use for a skill, like smithing, or another skil that is useful.
Mike_Ike111
You can always sell it back when you are done using it. You definitely won't lose money from it, as long as you are training slayer and up to date on your farming.
green9090
I've had mine since soon after they came out, and love it to death. It's fantastic for anything tanking because of the awesome defense bonuses. It's particularly nice at mithril dragons, and iron dragons if you're trying to take them on without prayer (see my guide). ultimatballr
I would say if you use it on a regular basis then yes. Like if you go to GWD or as someone prior to me said metal drags. Spending 20m on a bank space seems a bit out of place. You could spend 10m on runes or bolts and antifire pots and try for a vissage.. If you get it there is your DFS half priced. If you don't get one you will at least have gotten some drag item(s) and decent exp. But then again I never had a DFS so what do I know... Apparently, my signature was to big. davidium
i admit the dfs is really useful in many situations especially at metal dragons since it gives tremendous melee def bonus and blocks out the dragon's fire as well when compared to the lousy normal anti-dragon breath shield... however i feel that like any "best item" it is overpriced in the game...it is the best shield no doubt about that and it is for this same reason which makes it overpriced...all the best items in the game are priced way higher than their next best alternative equipment such as godswords, bandos/armadyl armour compared to whip and karil/barrow/black d hide etc. of course you that is the high price one has to pay for the best items in the game but why spend such a large proportion of your money (2/3 in your case) on the dfs with more slightly more defense than the D sq? if you won't be going to the metal drags or boss hunting much i really suggest getting the drag sq instead as it is really good value for money when compared to the dfs...if you are just training your melee skills get the rune defender which lets you hit better than the dfs too albeit at the cost of taking more damage... just ask yourself if you will be making full use of the dfs and even then is it worth parting with 2/3 of your wealth for it? despite having over a 100M i still use my whip and rune def =P and invest my wealth instead...i bought around 50M worth of raw lobs and lobs the second the pvp announcement came out and am looking forward to reaping the bountiful harvest soon =P maxed out melee on 10/10/08, current goal: 94/99 cookinglife may be unfair, but why can't it be unfair in my favor?my fake plant died because i forgot to pretend to water it

child_sycopath
I would have to say no, I would rather have Whip & rune defender then Whip & DFS. Plus i could spend the money on somthing else.

compfreak847
Imo, no. My friend lent me one for a long time, good, but not worth the money. I'd either get a gs or use for a skill, like smithing, or another skil that is useful. It cannot be lent. : It is good for meleeing dragons, looking good, and ranging\maging while being hit with melee\range. It is good for NOTHING else. Slayer is a horrible idea, a defender results in far less zeros regardless of your attack level. And if your fighting low level creatures that you hit anyway, you don't need the defence. Meleeing with it in any situation besides dragons is a fail, especially in PVP (where I see it used most). And yes, I've used one for months, and loved it. It is great for ranging and maging in fight pits\castle wars, but that's the only real use. Drops: 1x Draconic Visage, 56x Abyssal Whip, 5x Demon Head, D Drops: 37, Barrows Drops: 43, DK Drops: 29GWD drops: 14,000x Bars, 1x Armadyl Hilt, 2x Armadyl Skirt, 4x Sara Sword, 1x Saradomin Hilt, 8x Bandos Hilt, 8x Bandos Platebody, 9x Bandos Tassets, 4x Bandos Boots, 43x Godsword Shard, 82x Dragon BootsDry streak records: Saradomin 412 kills Bandos 988 kills Spirit Mages 633 kills - Slayer Sucks
xSxqPowerx
The shield is great, but only if you have a lot more money that that, and if you have a use for it (boss monsters, pvp, etc.) Otherwise, a rune defender is more useful in most scenarios, and some other shield will suffice if you really just need defence.
