Tip.It Times Presents: The Gold Crunch

Featured Replies

What's this about old Pk'ing coming back? Like old style combat in random places?

Sorry, I quit in Marchish playing after playing since 2001 and just felt like checking up on the game today. Hrm..potions are up? I still have a crudload stock of them and other goods in my bank (which i am happy to see they finally reorganized since I last logged in). Maybe I should sell them now.

Not a PKer myself, but this could be interesting for us skillers out there..but then again, I don't fancy spending a gazillion gold on items needed for it either.

Maybe I should log in...

Well, for want of a better word, w00t! Food going up is great for some people (including me) but how long will it last? I think this new PvP *might* be overhyped and then poeple would get disapointed and not bother.

ok say i wasent there at all i dont care i was i know the toggle but that has NOTHING to do with what i said nothing whatsoever i didnt mention that because the new system will be different. and yes pking is ONLY for immature kids the only ones who pk are people who like to ""Gank"" lower lvls otherwist they pvp.

you could at least read what i said before you flame me ROFL

and if all you guys think skillers are just people who gather and sell o man i know rs community isnt what it used to be but o my i feel sorry for you guys, a skiller is someone who concentrates on leveling skills usually doesn't sell much of anything we use everything to level other skills.

I think sometimes people make these articles to get those reading them believing in the predictions in order to make what they are predicting will happen more of a reality, thereby creating a self fulfilling prophesy. Tell the masses that something will shoot up in price for these reasons and many people will start panic buying and as demand begins to outstrip supply some very nice profits roll in for those who had stock-piled and gone round spreading the aforementioned predictions in the first place.

After awhile it all calms down again till the next major update that changes the way we play comes along

:D

Thank you for the article! I found it interesting.

This is my first day on the forums. :D

...Yes that's right, they are going to be making lots and lots of cash due to all the prices rising. Okay, so perhaps they do get a break and now get to make millions...

You mention herbalists will be making millions... Unfortunatley this is a common misconception.

Before the GE, potions could be sold at a profit.. but this is no longer the case.

For Example:

To make A Sara Brew (3) ... Bird Nest 3,392 + Toad Flax 2037 = 5,429 gp but sells for 4,133gp !!!

For every Sara Brew I make...I lose 1,296 gp !! (and the cost of a vial of water )

Yes, Farming will decrease my lose.. but as we all Know, growing herbs in significant quantites takes a long time.

Standing at Bounty Hunter selling my potions will also decrease my lose, but honestly..the time and hassle are not really worth it. People become indignant when the asking price is over the displayed price (which, btw, is the MID ge price)

I boycott selling any of my potions to the GE as they are so undervalued it's disgraceful.

So..... the "millions" you mention will NOT be directed to the Herbalist.

Have a Great Day :D

Okay, so i logged in to check prices and I didn't really see the difference from now since March on the items that I normally buy/sell. Snap seeds=down from March, Restore Pots=Down in price, P pots=down, Mantas=up a tiny tiny bit (like 100 maybe?), Swords=same price about, Monks-same price, attack pots-still cruddy price as before.

I didn't check my barrows as I have no clue what I paid for it in the first place (i had luckily received a santa in the party room).

So..I don't see this "change" in those prices at all

the artical plays too much into percentages and is scaremongering.

It forgets that while super atts are up...they were so low they were cheaper than normal atts for a while. the price drops would have already been low if there has been so much demand, and that a lot of food was also low (too many in circulation still)

I still think there is too much in circulation for prices to explode that much.

As far as armour goes, I hope the uniques are tradable, it will settle a lot of things people want. I'm particularly interested in exp altering items. I generally believe in efficient and fast skilling myself, although I'm not the sort for pking.

oh, as for pking needing skill? do you know how many pkers follow what they saw someone else do and assume it works? I've had 4-5 wannabe pkers fail to kill me when after clue scrolls. I've even killed a whip yielder with a rune wc axe. Then again, i'll grant that when I was less experienced I did have a highly skilled pker take me down so fast I stood no chance and I lost a lot of items. Still not enough to just assume pkers are skilled

somehow I think this will affect the game in a lot of subtle ways rather than in big ones

I see what your saying but as people get more drops off barrows armour the price will go down. It's almost impossible for rare armour or weapons to go up or keep steady forever. It wont be long before the market just settles again

Honestly, and it's probably already been said, but that's the way things should be. Skillers provide the supplies, pkers dish out the Gold. And when PKers get kills... business is good... Die and well... sucks to be you.

If you're too lazy to skill, you should have to pay significant amounts. It's not like the stuff spawned on the ground or something.

Personally, something like this would be enough to bring more then just some PKers out of retirement. It could easily bring back some mid to high level skillers who could make some decent gold off of certain products. Has me scratching my head, at least.

When people actually start losing gwd items in the new pvp, there will be a demand for new ones. Not much will change, I mean if the price of a certain good will go up, more people will go collect that to earn money. This panic about the economy is really a waste of time. And about skillers being the winners, they waste their money on things as firemaking, cooking, summoning, herblore, rare items etc. And pkers waste their money on pking, everyone does whatever they like.

I really hope a lot of ags'es will be lost in future pking so they will stay high in price, i don't want a world where everyone has an ags to spec me :/
