Andrew_001
Ok, I'm sat at my laptop and my phone rings. Private number. I answer the phone and its some guy I have never spoken to before, and I find it hard to understand him. From the sound of his voice, I believe he was of African origin. Anyway, I answer the phone like I normally do, saying hello, who is this? Then the guy starts talkin to me more clearly. He says that he found my number on his girlfriend's phone. He then goes on to say that I had best stop ringing her or I will cut your knee caps off. Now this just confused me, this definately isn't true. So I start saying to the guy, I don't understand, what are you on about? The guy becomes more aggressive. He says don't talk just listen, you best not be ringing my girlfriend again or I'm gonna murder you, I'm gonna cut your kneecaps off. He repeats a similar phrase several times. By this time I am both confused and a little nervous. I respond to him simply by saying I dont understand. He goes on to say this isn't a joke, I know where you live, I'm gonna murder you. Shortly before the guy hung up, I started asking the guy where he is from. To this he gave no reply, and simply kept on threatening me. Ok, so what on earth was that about? I don't understand what the guy was on about, and why he was threatening me. After the call had finished I was little shaky as I imagine anyone would be, but I have calmed down now. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I have come to two possible conclusions about the call: 1) It was a prank call. The person rung me up and threatened me for a laugh. It could have been a person who just typed in a random number, or got my number some other way, or maybe even someone I know who thought it would be funny (it wasn't - if this is the case and I find out who it was, they won't be my friend much longer). Signs that suggest this was a prank call include the fact that it was a private number. Also, the guy wouldn't tell me where he is from, if he had really wanted to scare me for whatever reason, surely he would have mentioned details about where I live. 2) It was for real, but the guy got the wrong number. I don't know if this is possible, but perhaps someone has been ringing the guy's girlfriend 'using' my number. For example, someone rings using their phone but somehow the person they are calling sees it as me calling. I really don't know what to do now. Should I just forget about it? Should I call the police and let them know? I need some advice and support please people. Has anyone else out there had a similar experience? If you have what did you do about it? Thanks. Andrew. How2PK
It's no fun to get those kind of phone calls. I suggest you try and not to pay too much attention to it, if it happens more often try contact police or whatever instancy that you can contact in situations like these. MrBiffo
Any death threat should be taken seriously. Even if it was a wrong number, the caller did state his intentions to kill, if not you, the person he meant to call. It would be best if you talked to the police about this, and hopefully you have that guy's number.
Mayjest
Prank call. If it happens again, then do something about it. Or string them along, saying random things like "Do you like cheese?" Or preach to them! I did that once! "I sense that you are a violent young man. You need Christ within you...." Got them off me pretty fast... Chiboda
Duh i like it when people call me like this, fake or not. I could care less what people on the phone have to say, but I usually end up saying something stupid or something that makes them say, 'I am in your closet.' Then i start to laugh and just hang up or something, but if they keep calling back I change my voice to an accent, I love these phone calls. :D

Andrew_001
You think this is some kind of joke? I don't think someone is going to kill me, I just want advice. If you read my two conclusions, you would be able to deduce this if you have an ounce of intelligence (oh wait.....sorry, my mistake). If you don't have anything constructive to say, don't say it. If you believe that cases like this are always prank calls, then you are an ignorant fool. Some cases like this are serious. Andrew.
Keiphus
If you really think it's that serious then do something about it. Call the authorities or consult someone other than a bunch of (majority-wise) 13 year old kids on an internet gaming forum. Who's the real ignorant fool? And I've never seen more blatant insults in so few lines of text in my entire life. Well, maybe I'm stretching that one. But if you want to have an insult contest and test my intelligence I can embarrass you whenever you want.
Andrew_001
I don't know if it is serious.....that is why I am asking. You think this is the only place I have talked about this? I have asked my close friends and family about this for advice. I only posted on here to get a wider audience to see if people have had similar experiences. Although a lot of people on here are childish and immature (you provide the perfect example), there are a lot of intellectual people who use these forums and I value thier opinion. Andrew. Keiphus
So.... you can probably count the number of times you've stepped out of your house on one hand right? Seriously, just because I find this funny does not mean I'm immature. This happens all the time to different people. It's just some stupid kid probably thinking he's funny. But honestly, what can you do about it? You've proven your innability to act, so you're nothing more than a sitting duck. I'm sorry that I don't take things like this more seriously, maybe when you are missing your kneecaps and let me know about it, I can apologize. Until then, welcome to life. Andrew_001
Well thats funny, considering I leave the house everyday, so I think that would be considered countless times, not 5 or less times. Funny how the majority of immature people (especially children) make jokes at the expense of other people. I believe that is what you attempted. This can be considered a form of bullying. Even if you found it funny yourself, there was no need to post it, why not laugh about it privately? That way you don't offend anyone and you don't spam my topic with irrelevant material. Did you actually consider that this sort of thing hasn't happened to everyone? This is the first time it has happened to me. That's why I asked for ADVICE to deal with the issue - I wanted help from people who have already experienced this problem. You laughing about it is not advice. Innability to act? Just because I look to make informed decisions by getting advice and finding out about the issue, doesn't meant I won't act. Jumping to conclusions and making hasty decisions is not wise. Andrew. Predator
That must be kind of scary, it was a prank call I bet, if they keep pranking, then go to the police. I'm assuming it was a prank call from when the guy started off with an African accent and then talked normally, unless by clearly you meant the quality of his voice got better? If that makes sense... Private number. hehe, did you even try to read the thread  Anyway, If I were the one recieving death threats, I would be going to the police about it, if it kept happening. If I kept recieving prank phone calls, I'd probably try and talk to my phone provider company and if they couldn't do anything, I'd probably go to the police. Why should you have to put up with annoying little brats who are having a laugh at your expense and wasting your time?

TitanX
I presume you live in the Uk, because right now theres a massive prank going around, which is EXACTLY how you described it. A big guy rings up going 'whats going on mate? your numbers on my girls phone?', he later goes on to to say 'im going to murder you, i know where you live'. Its a prerecorded prank, thats all. Its pretty funny to be honest.
