Yeah I usually get the "Defence noob" insult. It's all the same crud really, we train certain skills for a reason and use our abilities to our best during PvP, sometimes people just can't handle losing :lol:

I just went to the new clan wars free for all safe and whenever I attacked anyone they just ran behind the little glow-y wall thing so [bleep] annoying!!! I mean you're just in there to have fun. I really hope their self esteam isn't so low that you just can't die under any circumstance or you'll rip your hair out... -.-

i get the opposite. they attack me and start going "turn off prayer you noob!" ......" um...i have high defence" next thing ya know i hit four 20's in a row because they depended too much on one skill alone. ahh the joys of defence. :

i pray in my matches with people in the new free for all and my zgs, usually get about 3-4 kills on similarly levelled players and sometimes get the odd 120+ (im 112 p2p/f2p), but i dont use protect prayers, just smite and piety.

 

 

 

i would bet on that lvl 90 not actually having the stats of a f2p lvl 90, most likely has like 30 summoning or something and like 40 prayer. but its like the other people who call people defense noobs. why? because they have like 60 attack, so they cant hit through any reasonable defense level, then just get mad that their stats fail and decide that their opponent is a 'def n00b'.

 

 

 

to be honest, eating to stay alive and praying, is a legitimate strategy and why does he care if you eat? its not like he would actually get anything from killing you, except saying; 'i managed to kill a lvl 108 (who was in ranging gear, so his melee defense wasnt very good, so even though my stats fail i managed to hit through his low defense bonus (after being slaughtered by that lvl 108 about 10 times)).'

Not true. I used a d bow spec on someone using ranged prayer

 

I hit 3-3, not joking. Protect prayer reduce damage by 40%.

I was sure it reduced your chance of hitting, not the actual hit. I was hitting my max through melee prayer today, so that can't be right.

I wouldn't mind prayer as much if we had a set of something that lets us go through prayer like melee does. But anyway, the reason people call people prayer noobs is because in a 1 on 1 fight if you pray against each other it's pretty much pointless. It's boring to fight for 3x longer because all you are hitting is like 1-12s on each other.

 

 

 

Of course, it does make it easier to not die, because you have more time to heal. Sure, it goes for the other person too, but the one with higher prayer and/or prayer bonus will keep it in the end. And of course, if they can't use it, that's certainly an advantage to you.

 

 

 

I don't see anything wrong in using prayer. Sure, it may slow things down, but if you have higher prayer, or they're using up their points quicker (lower prayer bonus, using more prayers), it will give you an advantage. I'd only use it when I actually want to try harder to win, and give up some of the fun of hitting/being hit high.

 

 

 

For example, I wouldn't use it in safe free for all Clan Wars or the Duel Arena, unless the other person is using it. There, it just makes things less fun, because it takes longer. I find it fun being whomped to death, and whomping someone to death in a few seconds, however, only when there's no risk involved. If I'm at risk of losing my items, or just losing in a competitive game, then I may try to protection pray if I think I have more prayer efficiency than my opponent.

I personally only go to Duel arena\Castle wars, to test out my max on random people... and it does annoy me when they use prayer because I hit much lower. Although I don't say "turn off prayer noob!" I just go find another person...

usually if im getting hammered i'd use Chivalry since it doesnt show up over ya' head and gives you quite the advantage in a pinch. ( thank you Knights Wave )
