Corporeal Beast Debunked

Featured Replies

I dunno if this has been done/said before, but would using Curse/other reduction spells help agains it? It might only be 5%, but 5% of this monster might be equivilean to a 20% from another monster meaning faster kills? I'd try this out but I'm f2p so whatever

It's a nice idea, but I've seen some mages cast continuous weaken spells at him the entire fight without one sucessful hit. Of course, they were 3 iteming. Perhaps if someone in actual mage gear came, it could be sucessful.

And about the protect from magic: Putting in protect from magic reduces the max hit only slightly, from 66 to 63. However, you will notice a significant difference in the beast's hits if you have it on. I don't know how some people can say it barely affects it, you can defintely note the difference, it's around 10 less damage each time. The fact is you should have protect from magic on at all times if you are not an expert. And even if you are a meleer, protect from magic > melee. It's been proven the beast hits higher with his magic attacks, and about half the time he does hit people in his melee range with a magical attack. It doesn't matter if melee completely protects you, what you should be worried about are the 60+'s.

By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( .

Here are some pictures of the three debatable attack styles for reference:

I haven't done the quest yet, but when I do, I'll remember some of the stuff you wrote. Good post. ::'

Ok, I tested it out, I 1 itemed the CB till he had a noticable amount of red in his hp bar, then summoned a pack yak, and took a pic of hp bars before and after.

After:

Then as a random fact, i got out with 3 hp, took off pray, and his mage attack came flying at me and hit me a 3 even though i was outside, so i died. So basically, it's like the mage bank lever used to be, where you aren't safe until you're in

Um, I'm interested as to what you consider an "expert", because I know for a fact I'm more experienced at killing that beast than most, and I don't ever use protect from magic because that would in fact be a bad/stupid decision on my part if I were to use it.

That's exactly what he's saying, "if you are not an expert." Since you are experienced, then you are at the "expert" level he is talking about and hence do not need to use protect from magic.

I'm going to try to avoid posting further after this one, since it's pretty obvious nothing will come out of it.

However, to anyone who reads this thread, don't take the information on this thread as being 100% accurate. While I won't claim that I'm definitely right and the thread creator is wrong, I highly doubt a few of his "facts".

I've tested different armors, and the difference is very little, even between high magic defense gear and negative magic defense gear. Coupled with the fact that in the quest, it specifically tells you that defense stats do not affect the beast's attacks, if you want to fight the beast more than a couple times, I suggest you try it yourself and decide what works best.

Same goes for the prayers. I can say from personal experience that I take a lot less damage per kill using protect melee than protect magic. The creator obviously disagrees, but this could vary with what tactic you use, or any number of other factors. 60s don't scare me since if I'm paying the slightest attention, I don't get hit solidly twice in a row, and I can heal 36 hp per bite of food anyways. But if they scare you, or if you've been killed multiple times by such combos, then use what you feel best.

This monster isn't fully understood. It's fine to start with what other people suggest, but I'd urge you to test these yourselves and find what works best for you.

Good points. My theories are just based off my own observations and data. They are just theories, but have proven to be true in my own experience. In the end, it's up to people to believe what they want.

What are you eating that heals 36 in a single bite? The most I see anywhere is 22 from tuna potatoes or mantas.

What are you eating that heals 36 in a single bite? The most I see anywhere is 22 from tuna potatoes or mantas.

Brew, and then instantly after it a shark. (or the other way round, nto sure).

Takes only the time of one bite.

Shark, then brew. You can eat any "normal" food, then drink any "normal" potion immediately after without taking any extra time. I don't know how this applies to gnome foods or multiple bite items, or barbarian mixes.

I posted this originally but a friend mentioned it might be funnier if I didn't explain, I kinda figured I wasn't the only one who knew it though.

Thousands and thousands of people know this, lol :P. If someone is in a clan, chances are that they know that trick. Heck, there are other tricks you can use, other foods that can replace the brew... I'll tell you though, the first slice of a pizza has no delay on it :P So you can do pizza-shark-brew if you eat the first half of the pizza... unfortunately it doesn't work with the 2nd half of the pizza >.>

Thanks for this, I definitely agree with a lot of this.
