How was that well put? They obviously don't stay completely true to what defines Punk music, as they've mixed Punk with Rock and Pop melodies; However, they still fall under the umbrella of Punk. You don't need to exclude them from the genre just because you don't like them.

Ok, then metalcore and all of those sub-genres are Metal. We can have the same pointless argument that has been re-hashed 500 times about that. To me, Punk isn't even really a genre. It's a mindset of the musicians. It's a mindset of nonconformity. Some of the greatest punk bands were never mainstream and that's what made them so amazing. Sum 41 is NOT punk music.

love them.
Always knew that you were a rebellious 12 year old skater.

Stereotypes are the scapegoats of society. You don't like their music and you're uncomfortable with your own musical taste so you feel the need to take a stab at anything you think others might find "uncool". It's fine not to like them, but you don't need to make fun of their fans when you're obviously self-conscious about what you listen to in your free time. It's a shame people act like this.

I'm a fan of Sum 41. Walking Disaster and Dear Father are probably my top 2 favorite songs.

This thread [or board?] is hilarious. It's just music, not need to get up in arms about it people, or treat music like a fad rather than as something to be judged on how good it sounds.

On that note, I like this band. They're music sounds good, regardless of these stupid stereotypes, none of which I've even heard of before in my life anyways.

What does the fact that something is or is not mainstream have to do with how good it sounds?

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

Maybe I'm just confused, but I don't think I said anything about how they sound. Personally, I do not like the sound of Sum 41, but with my last post I was just referring to how I don't think that they were punk, not how they sound.

I can't imagine listen to Sum-41, they're way too demonic/satanic for me.
