When I was way younger I bought that along with Sun Tzu's AOW on Barnes & Noble. Unlike Art of War which is largely philosophic and focuses on strategies, Book of Five Rings concentrates pretty heavily on sword-fighting techniques, which have little practical value in today's world.

It's a fascinating read though, being a literary work of an actual samurai, and it does contain deep philosophy and intelligent advice.

It's also available for English online reading by a translator @ http://samurai.com/5rings/

IE I have a copy of Mein Komph, (Hitler's autobiography) which is banned in Germany and I have heard that several books related to making weapons are banned in Australia.

Mein Kampf if you want to be really picky. :P

We just went through that book in History, I might read it although it isn't required. Sounds really interesting.

Ive read 'animal farm' and parts of ' mein kampf ' in history for GCSE.

They are both very interesting books that actually provoke deep thought. Animal farm actually describes the political situation at the time in russia in a very good way, the films good to.

Mein kampf has some horrendous stuff in it but allows you to get inside Hitler and understand his perspective a lot better.

I dont believe these books should be banned as they allow more insight into these subjects.

To Kill a Mockingbird is banned in quite a few places, if you've read it, you'd know why.

We've just finished reading that in the UK. To be honest it was an awesome book and in a small way taught some people how not to treat black people.

Out of curiosity, is the book "The Outsiders" still banned in the US?

Side note : In the French version of Animal Farm, Napoleon was renamed Cesar.

Again, when I say banned books, I mean as in not allowed inside certain schools/public libraries. NOT AS IN BANNED FROM THE US

We read that last year (8th grade), and then had an entire Greaser Day after.(unless I'm thinking of the wrong book - it's the one by S.E. Hinton right?)

And who woulda known Hitler had an autobiography :-k

Yeah, that's the one. And every egoistical, megalomaniac(optional) person will write an autobiography. Its a given rule.

Lol, 80% of the books you've mentioned are my favourites :P

Brave New World - Aldus Huxley is banned in a few places. It's similar to '1984', but more with more sci-fi in.

Anti-Religious books are also banned in some third worlds countries (E.g 'The God Delusion' by Richard Dawkins.)

People in OT eat glass O_o

My school district lifted all book bans a few years ago. To put it bluntly, they said that they realized it was stupid, unnecessary, and wasn't enforced anyway.

wtf! How can Harry Potter be banned? It's like the best selling series in the world.
