fubol
Well , i don't know what to think ... It is handheld wich is a + But the battery life is extreme bad (4-5 hours) and the games aren't to cool I think it is the best handheld console or is the DS better? If you think it is just crap , then suggest something else (no ps3 or pandora) and tell me the good stuff 'bout it Thanks : Signature by LittleboyRunescape and impatient people are like ying and yang, they exist as one, they need each other
stevepole
You might want to clear up your post. You contradict yourself.. And they are not consoles either. I personally think its your own preference on if your going to like the PSP or the DS, even though they are both portable platforms they are still very different. Try looking up reviews for games then watch video of some gameplay and see which one you'd enjoy more. You can also search through topics already around tipit to get a better understanding of the two handhelds.
Jaziek
the PSP is horrible at being bad. on a PSP releated note, I like that they implemented the PSN and playstation store system into the firmware, FINALLY.
cadburys_egg
But the battery life is extreme bad (4-5 hours) and the games aren't to cool Someone has lied to your through their teeth and possibly through another bodily orifice alot further south. If you arent a complete dunce you can make the battery last over double what youve posted. This includes; headphones + low volume, put the screen brightness down and generally using the power saving features as much as possible [turning the screen off if youre not using it, for example]. And no, the game selection doesnt compare relatively with the DS because they are - for a start - two vastly different handhelds. One being a very pretty "ooh, touch me more" dual screened something-witty and the other an mp4 media centre with more graphic intensive games. Im not going to say the DS is horrible, because you could do worse, but id still much rather have my PSP since I dont have to use it just for games if I dont particularly want to. Or even if I do, I can carry a small library of games by putting them on the memory stick. on a PSP releated note, I like that they implemented the PSN and playstation store system into the firmware, FINALLY. Try downloading C&C [1.8gb] through wifi then saying that. FFFF But its a lot easier to access, atleast.
champion
I got a PSP for Christmas a couple years ago. I tried to get into it but none of the games really interested me. :| I prefer the DS for sure.
Nadril
Or even if I do, I can carry a small library of games by putting them on the memory stick. I can too on my DS. And because NDS games are crazy small (32Mb to 128Mb) I easily have 20 NDS games + 1000 NES roms + 200 SNES roms + homebrew on mine. And the NDS does have a bit of power behind it. I have a quake 2 port on it that works well (homebrew). Stylisticly I do enjoy the games better though -- the PSPs are usually too blocky.

I can get 10 full PSX games, I could homebrew and get just as many - if not more - Nintendo games as you mentioned or I can fit a whole season of animu and watch that. Though I dont personally homebrew, the only games id want to play on my PSP are either PSX ones which are already released or if I did, a few niche japanese games like Touhou/Melty Blood/VNs anyway. Which im not hugely bothered about.

Well, bar NDS, of course. Its pretty hard to emulate touch screen without the hardware for it. Though, that said, there arent any NDS games id want to emulate. Except maybe the pokeymans but thats only because the little kid in me is bugging me to play it despite well knowing I wont like it. One thing I never understood about the PSP is the LocationFree Player. Has anyone actually used it? It seemed a good idea on paper to "watch live TV on your PSP", but when they said after that you needed this expensive little box the whole novelty just fizzled away. And there doesnt look to have been much progress on the Go!Messenger either.
Swordhand20
If you cut through all the rabid Nintendo fanboyism surrounding the DS, the PSP is generally the better option. However i've heard conflicting reports about whether the PSP 3000 is actually better.
Nadril
If you cut through all the rabid Nintendo fanboyism surrounding the DS, the PSP is generally the better option. However i've heard conflicting reports about whether the PSP 3000 is actually better. Not sure if that was directed at me or not. Acording to Game Rankings the NDS has 50 games with an 80% average score or better, while the PSP has 47. Because of this largely the decision comes down to the buyer. I would strongly suggest anyone (hint: OP) check out Game Rankings, as it's easily the best site to compare scores. Homebrew is usually how the two are compared, in which case again it all depends. NDS homebrew is largely a one time deal, all you need to do is buy a flash cart ($40-$50) and a MicroSD card and you are good to go. The PSP you have to constantly battle firmware updates, which can be difficult sometime. You also risk the (small) chance of bricking your PSP for good. In most cases NDS homebrew is more inovative, due to touch screens and dual screens while PSP homebrew allows for stronger and more graphicaly intensive apps. While the NDS can only handle up to SNES emulation the PSP actually has working N64 emulation (and PS1 due to the fact that the PSP is very largely based off of PS1 hardware). On the other hand the NDS has some very nice homebrew, such as a drawing app that takes advantage of the touch screen among other interesting ideas. Plus it still has a decent bit of power, capable to emulating Quake I, Quake II (with a rom card in slot 2) and all the favorites such as Doom, Duke 3D, ect. Size and battery life wise the NDS has a superior battery life. Really, it's common sense. This isn't to say that the PSP's battery life is bad, just that an NDS can easily out last it. The NDS also is a bit smaller than the PSP which allows for easier travel, and I enjoy the style of the DSlite not to mention the flip screen is nice to help protect it while not in use. flying_death_bombs55
I don't often use the PSP for gaming, but I do occasionally use it for going online when I don't feel like turning on my PC. It's pretty useful , but that's just my opinion. When you mentioned the Dragon Plates I had a sudden vision of a load of gangsters running around in fancy dress yealling "Grim Reaper in da hood!" Jaziek
actually, once you've got a decent level of technical know how, and the right software / cables, its almost impossible to brick a PSP because you can just flash its internal memory and start over. That in itself is risky, but it shouldnt lead to a break as long as you have the original files and know what you're doing.

Nadril
Do you not listen? Go to gamerankings, look at the games for both systems and make your decision. Also to get a flash cart for the DS it involves ordering it overseas.
Faux
That's not true. Most Chinese VG stores sells flash carts. And tbh, it's about preferences. Do you want quirky fun games that uses a stylus? Use the DS Do you want PS2-like games on the go? Get the PSP I prefer the DS, but that's because the analog stick on the PSP is a huge PITA. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
fubol
I think i go for the DS ... I hope the games don't LOOK and PLAY almost the same as my GBA :? There are quite some games that interest me like mario and guitar hero : on tour (what do you think about the guitar hero on ds?) Also , i can't find a way to buy the R4 card on it's site #-o ; i clicked on the "where to buy button" and tried all side menus but still nothing :( And should i wait for the DSi to come out (then i can't ask it as x-mas gift) or just get the DS lite? Thanks : Signature by LittleboyRunescape and impatient people are like ying and yang, they exist as one, they need each other

Nadril
Don't get an R4, they're tough to find now and more expensive. I'd get a CycloDS or something that has SDHC capabilities. And the DSi is going to be a waste I think. As far as graphics go: Quake II DS Homebrew port. Needs Slot 2 memory device. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow Final Fantasy IV: DS Again, go to gamerankings and look at the games for both systems, please. I'm not trying to lead you one way or another here and you need to know how to make up your own mind >_<.
Dean Ambrose
And should i wait for the DSi to come out (then i can't ask it as x-mas gift) or just get the DS lite? I dunno really. You could wait, but any games w/ a GBA expansion (games that used the GBA slot) are obsoleate with the DSi, seing as it lacks a GBA slot. However, that is it's only flaw. You you decide: Beter control, or more games? My blogTwitterTwitch Stream

You you decide: Beter control, or more games? How often do you play a GBA game though? I don't think I ever played one on my DS before I sold it last week after three or so years of owning it.. The reason I got rid of it was because I never played it. Maybe once or twice a year I'd play it for maybe like three days straight. I did enjoy the games I had though, except now I'm stuck with a copy of Jump Ultimate Star (JPN import).. Oh and for the record I did own a PSP for like the first two years of its release also, might get one soon again, but I dunno. The games for that I also enjoy just as much, but I think I traded it in for the my DS lite if I'm not mistaken and The New Super Mario Brothers. RayOxide
DS Lite Versus DSi. Imo DS Lite wins cause I dont do much playing against other people and if I did I wouldnt show my face (or on a VGA cam) or need a microphone. Plus, DS Lite has GBA slot. I dont need a siggy no moar.
