I was thinking to myself recently about why I first started playing RuneScape and how I was introduced into the game.

 

 

 

Back when I was about 14, I went to my friends house and he showed me the game. As he had 2 computers, I was on one and he was on the other. My first account was called Biscuit77 because, ironically, I was eating biscuits at the time (lol). I spent the whole time that night, killing cows and then trying to sell cowhides, by walking from town to town.

 

 

 

I was wondering if anyone else had similar introductions to RuneScape, and if it was a friend or an advertisement that first started your journey.

I think I was about 11 (this was before they asked how old you were to join) and some people in the year above me at school were playing it in the computer room, so I asked them what it was and signed up when I got home. :

This, obviously, before schools could ban online games? lol.

 

 

 

Because the school I went to managed to do so... But it was a requirement to have a laptop where i went.

Oh no it was banned and blocked and such, but they were nerds so school-level internet filters didn't really effect them in any way. ;)

Aha.. got to love how people manage to pull that off. We eventually found ways around it, so physics for me was basically training stats lol.

 

 

 

That was easily the best thing about having laptops in every class.

I was reading a kid's magazine I bought, and in it were always some games to review.

 

That month happened to touch on online games.

My 6th grade teacher took us all to the computer lab and let us play for 1 week :lol: :twss:

Haha that's great, wish I went to your school, so we were actually allowed! and didn't have to AceHide it every time the teacher came around, lol.

Well she said it was break week and you can be on the comp but you have to all play Runescape. Gotta love how everyone was playing and we all added each other it was halarious like 1 big noob fest. Most quit though only like 2 or 3 others still play :)

it was this big list of online mmorpgs

 

most of which at the time were text based

 

one day back in late january 2001

 

a new game appeared on the list called runescape, so i checked it out

 

spent my first day being pk'd while trying to do cooks assistant

 

then fighting over the iron dagger spawn in the goblin house right outside lumby

 

back then that 40 gp was a big deal

it's just something i made up about 5 years ago for some game and kept using

 

then a few months ago i found out it's a place in afghanistan

but yeh it's a shame i didn't keep up the character i started with, but after being hacked i quit for a couple years and just really came back about a year ago

 

then there might have been a bit of prestige in being one of the first 5000 players -.-

Yeah well that's an achievement in itself. I discovered this name because my aunt accidentally called her son Trevace when she was drunk. His actual name is Travis, lol.

it was about 3 years ago wen i was 12 - 13

 

in my IT class my two best mates were looking at the runescape site ( lol at the days when runescape wasnt banned on school comps XD) and my m8 made an account. and they then showed me, and so i also created my one and only account (sibmaster)

 

 

 

didnt really like it at first and so gave up

 

but then other m8s made accs

 

and so i went on sibby again, and got to liking it

Yeah it was, it still is though. Apart from a few decisions but.. it happens.

Sadly... MiniClip :oops: I was at school, and my friend showed me this site called miniclip, and we played some orlling marble game or something. When I get home, I play some more games and see on the side that Runescape was the top game. So I was like, "hmmm.. what is this runescape?" Well I try it and at first hate it. I made this account, got to the firemaking, cooking part of the tutorial, and quit. I came back like a month later, and played a little. All I really did was mine and smith, because I told myself, "why waste money on armour when you can make it yourself?" Lol... i didnt even get full iron before that thought disappeared.

 

 

 

Then, I stop playing for awhile, when all of a sudden one day, I have a feeling like I want to play again! I go back on MiniClip, and to my surprise its gone. I thought it was always just a miniclip game thing... lol. I google runescape and eventually come to their website. Boy, was I surprised! I didnt even know at the time it was this giant game with updates and stuff. It was pretty cool.... \

I know how to unblock stuff, our it teacher told us how to do it 8-)
