Not everyone realizes it, but if you head to the Rants Forums of Tip.It(and sometimes the whole Tip.It)acts like whiny babies sometimes.

My biggest beef with RSOF is the forum mods...simply put, they absolutely suck. If they decide they don't like you or disagree with you, they find a reason to lock your thread. If they decide they like you, they'll keep your thread open at all expenses. But what pisses me off the most is when they lock your thread and then give a bullsh** reason for locking it, so you have to make a new thread that now includes why it shouldn't be locked for that reason. -.-

This is an example of why I dislike the rsof:

Well, not all threads are like that :)

the issue with rsof is simply:

90% of threads are people whining about something, despite having whined about the exact opposite a few days b4 eg the quest reqs are too high! becomes we need more high req quests!

50% of the threads are posted in the wrong place

75% of the threads insist on things being proof or fact despite directly contradicting huge amounts of rs lore and history eg Zaros/Guthix having a gwd area behind the frozen door

75% of threads are poor duplicates of each other eg omg i like ur idea i'll psot a thread on it then the thread is "omg this idea is gr8 i like it it's posted here [insert quick find code]"

compare it to tip.it where 90% of threads are not whining, have their rs lores correct, are posted in the same place and are not duplicates. Thoose that are and usual moved or locked or deleted within the hour, where as rsof most are left unmodded or take several hours if not days to get locked

But 68.8% of the TIF posters is in a bad mood 21% of the time and at those times increasing their bad posts by almost 75% to an astonishing 56%, this makes TIF only about 8.9% better then RSOF. If you don't take all the bad posts in account, RSOF even has about 13.1% more good posts with an average quality approximately 9.9% higher then the average TIF post.

On a more serious note, even though not all posts are high quality, it has some amazing must read guides for every serious slayer, runecrafter or thief. (search for "mega" in the skills section.)

When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.

Honestly, Tif and RSOF are cut from the same cloth. If Tif had the chance to reach the same amount of people that the RSOF did, you'd see even more similarities poke through.

I see equal ratios (key word there, ratios) of trollers, intelligent people, flamers, well spoken people, arrogant people, and pures.

Personally, I love the sections of the RSOF that I nestle myself in and call home.

Every forum deserves a little bit of awesome ;) .

Hey, just like there are some good people on the RSOF, there are some good people who are pures. :twss:

EDIT: Oh, but I did phrase it in a way that makes them look poorly, didn't I? :3 Let me fix that.

I think you're exaggerating a lot  Most threads are fine.

Decided to take a picture of the General Discussion page at this moment. This is what I got. Didn't look around or take forever finding a "nooby shot". I just clicked general discussion.

I agree with you.

Also, there are no "idiots", only people who have a different thought process or mental capacity than you. I actually respect the people on the RSOF who you would call idiots more than I respect any of you. They have the courage to speak up, questions and generate discussion. Most people who aren't classed as idiots are too stubborn to give up their position and will make personal attacks with the intention to create emotional harm. That is idiotic behavior. Please, respect your fellow 'scapers and don't talk about them like this behind their backs. If you really think they are idiots go tell them that, not me.

What's wrong with needing help and asking questions?

If you do that here on Tip.It, 4 different people will flame you for being a "moron" or an "idiot" and not even spend 5 seconds to answer your question. *shrug*

EDIT: Meh. I need to allow more "thinking time" before posting. Apologies in advance.

I hated how I would put in large effort creating some sort of help guide, and the ability to keep it alive dictated babying the darn thing (bumping) two or three times daily.

For the longest time*, the suggestion forum was useless. It was spammed with useless junk (a large number were on the "do not suggest" list) and little discussion.

SUPPORT LISTS!!!! What a waste of space. As if Jagex would not go through a thread looking at the pros and cons listed by the participants. No, these creators would waste 5 to 8 pages for support list on the "Dragon Light Saber" suggestion.

Rant Forum - second most spammed forum. Hard to get a decent discussion going.

*That said, others including myself, have had actual impact on game content thanks to the official forums. Sometimes it was fairly rapid (unified rants about the Mage Runes going to 5k in the stores at 1/8th the price every server reset had a change within the month). Some content took six months to a year to come into play (God Wars dungeon was 9 months from my suggestion to implementation, skill capes took almost six months I think).

The suggestion forums are now broken up into categories, move slower, and have the high level content sticky in all of them.

Yeah, the forums are full of kids that act like they do in the game. There's definite low brow types of debate ("you idea sucks cause you're a low level moron who's not a true pker", "umm, thank you, but what has that to do with a suggestion about armor storage in POH for Repaired Barrows?"). However, it is monitored by Jagex developers. You'll have more impact on the game in the RSOF than here.

Yes it is terrible and full of spam and whiner but thats because of the vast number of people who use those forums. If Tip.it had as many people as RSOF has we'd be full of spam and whining too. But it does seem we have more trolls than RSOF maybe because if you do something bad on RSOF you could be punished for it on your account. But either way RSOF is terrible and has a low standard and is full of whining pkers these days.

Most of them are spelled incorrectly and all of them are in the wrong forum. People in RSOF have no idea about what goes where.

Most of those are good threads. Asking questions is not a bad thread. The only stupid one I can see is "what would your mod name be".

"White Knights- The Deception" in that picture is for example a must-read.

Please explain why that sounds like a stupid thread (Or are you saying you've been there and it actually is a stupid thread?), because it sounds like it has potential.

Meh, yeah, lots of those posts you mentioned could serve to go into another forum. And if that's your pet peeve, I can see how you can hate the RSOF--that's a chronic "issue" there. But personally, I don't mind answering a few questions so long as the topic creator isn't a jerk. Some people post in the wrong forum repeatedly, because it's a real chore for a Forum Mod to have to move the topic to the proper spot (and that's another issue for another day, the RSOF infrastructure is OUTDATED and is in serious need of a makeover!)

I guess that brings me to an issue that I do have a real problem with on the RSOF. If you try to help someone or try to tell them, "Hey you should probably lay off from doing this, it can get your topic locked" they're instantly up in arms screaming about "Wannabe Mods."

Most of those "Wannabe Mods" you see truly deserve that title. They think just because they trumpet the rules about, they'll get player mod status. The other fraction of the people with that label though, are actually trying to educate fellow players.

It's kind of a tradeoff I guess, when you come down to it.
