Question about a new phone

Bloodredsword

Recommended Posts

So I'm on a verizon plan(Nope, I can't change it to get iphone or google phone ect) and my parents said they'd buy me whatever phone I wanted for an early christmas present this week(They've been laying off on getting me a new phone for 2 years...I've had to buy my own crappy $20 replacement phones when mine died)

What should I get? Pretend money is no object.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm not so sure if I would get an iPhone if I were you. Supposedly the camera phone quality is less than that of less expensive, normal cellphones. They look great, but of course it's most likely overrated.

From experience, stay the hell away from the Motorola RAZRs. They suck. I have one and don't use it anymore because you constantly have to charge it because the battery life is so short. They hold very little pictures and ringtones. It was also hard for me to TXT on it as well. The buttons were tricky to press and the messages folder ran out of space too quickly.

To be honest, I'm not too savvy with cellular devices. However, if you are looking into a phone, make sure that it's not overrated/doesn't have any problems. There are too many companies selling crappy items these days.

just looked up the storm...looks pretty sick. And I also just realized the time is coming where I get like 100 dollar discount on a new phone.

I want the BlackBerry Storm myself...

And I'm willing to switch from T-Mobile to Verizon just for it, what's your excuse? Just kidding, get it pl0x and make me uber jealous? <3:

My bro has "HTC Touch Diamond"

[hide=]2ptor5g.jpg[/hide]

It's not bad for a phone, supports 7.2mb internet connections, has inbuilt GPS, 3.2mpix camera and a keyboard/touchscreen, plus it plays music and movies. You can even play some online java/flash games with it, though I'd imagine playing RS to be a bit awkward with a stylus pen.

Though I only have tested it in a store, I find the BlackBerry Storm to be quite good too, but it's overrepresented on the forums. Maybe it's because they're currently having a big ad campaign in the US and people are impressionable.

I still question why people, especially younger ones, actually *need* a smartphone more designed towards businessmen, like the Blackberry. As long as you have the money, guess that's not a problem.. But still

I'd get a sony ericsson, they're very good, no matter the one you get, since yes, there are many different ones of it.

Oh, crap no.

I recommend any of the Nokia N series. Ericsson may look good, but they are really low quality. I have seen cases in which a trip through the washer actually improved a phone by Nokia.

Nonsense. SE has a good overall quality. Check the reviews. Regardless whether you like their phones or not, you can't deny the fact they're one of the A brands.

Your point being? Nokia likes washing machines? Not that Nokia is bad by the way.

@topic starter: You might want to tell us what you specifically like in a phone. What's happening now is that everyone just mentions their favorite phone, which isn't very constructive. I'd say it's best if you'd point out for yourself what you want in a phone and give us a list where we can base our advice on.

I agree Nokia's are great phones, and are well worth checking out. I also have stocks in Nokia, but sadly they have seen better days before this economic "crisis".

@bluelancer, I also question why some high schoolers have blackberries, because they do not have a need for all the features. I know I supported the Storm but someone my age would take great use of the phone, and its many features.

The bloke living in Finland says Nokia is better than Sony Ericsson... :o

I have Sony Ericsson w200i, which I've never had any problems with, and I've had it for... Four months... My personal experience might not be so relevant, but I have talked to a lot of SE owners, and most of them are happy with their phone.

i would honestly have to say a blackberry storm, i don't own one (i'm on at&t) but i do own a blackberry 8300, and i would kill (read stab) for a blackberry storm if i could. my blackberry 8300 is fantastic, best phone i've ever owned. i love everything about it, and i'm sure the storm is just an improvement. can't really tell you much about other phones, as i haven't used a different phone for over a year now, the phone i used to use isn't even made anymore i don't think (kyocera strobe).

I would avoid getting a SE phone that has a joytick, as they tend to crap out on you after a little bit of use. (A lot of my friends have SE's w/ joysticks and they are nearly impossible to navigate with after the dust settles in)

You wouldn't go wrong with a Nokia or Blackberry though.

No.

They aren't low quality. I've had my Sony Ericsson since 2004, dropped it in concreate.. tarmac.. youghurt.. Still works!

All my family has a SE phone, and none of them have broken. And alot of my friends got one too, and none of them have gone kaputt.

My brother works in a mobile-phone shop, and i've never heard him go "SE is crap!".

Or the OP could go for a Motorola W385. That's the one I have and it has good battery life and never has given me problems in the years I've had it. Only, that's only if you want something cheaper that only has phone and messaging + camera. I only said the SE are very good since all the people that I know have them around where I live never had any problems after dropping it multiple times and it almost has no scratches.

Just get one of the newer SE W series...They are just great. Used to have SE W890i, which was absolutley great, yet i lost it...now i have nokia E51...it's ok, but it's nowhere close as awesome SE was...nokia fails. Also, i doubt you really need one of those blackberies...theyre freakin huge and uncomfortable.

Yes, so what? If your claim had support i'd agree with you. But it doesn't.

Maybe series x by manufacturer x is bad, but you can't just say their phones are crap.
