If only. If Jagex gives melee a distance weapon that works as well as the whip at 10+ squares, melee will finally be equal. Until then, mage is the indubitable champion.

Well the reason melee is called melee is because you melee people, attacking people from 10 squares away would build to melee's overpoweredness.

 

Here is the simple solution to being 10 steps away when you are melee, take 10 steps in the direction of the enemy, attack them, they die.

 

Now i can understand you telling me range is overpowered, because sometimes it can be (particularly on mages) but for the most part mage just sucks.

 

Vengeance is one of the only reasons im getting 99.

 

"Well Ice Barrage is really overpowered!" Yes! :lol: Mage is overpowered! :lol: It's 10's and 20's will take you down really fast!!! :ohnoes:

 

NO!!!!!!!!!

 

Mage is severly underpowered.

 

A. They spend 2k a cast on runes for a good spell

 

B. Every single mage armour has 0 range def (exept mage void) so a 5 year old ranger could kill a very experianced mage easy

 

C. Mage armour also has very low melee def, making is very easy for a melee to pop a ags or d claws specs and laugh in your face when you character dies. :lol:

 

"Well it freezes for 20 secs!" There are sevaral things you can do while frozen,

 

A. Pull out a range wep and kick the mages butt

 

B. If you are melee, put on range armour, wait 20 secs, and when its over, just 1-2hit the mage :lol:

 

So the next time you call melee underpowered (and especially call mage overpowered) make sure you have some stuff to back it up

And stew, dont put "we" in how will we pk without vengeance, because you wont be getting it any time soon :lol:

 

Anyway, i said vengeance is probly the most useful spell, all others are not worth using exept the barrages in clan and castle wars are fun

 

However you can still k0 pretty easy without veng, it just helps alot to have it

 

1. You can Dragon Claw, this MELEE weapon is probly the least skillful weapon in the game to use, you spec, you win, the end \'

 

2. AGS, after Dragon Claws came out, AGS got sorta forgotten but it still a very overpowered weapon, capable of hitting very accutare and up to 70 :thumbsup:

 

3. DDs, although not very accurate, with 4 specs and worth 30k, this is most noob-friendly weapon and even can hit more than a d bow! (49-49) :o

 

4. D bow, This is an uber pjing weapon, although less overpowered than AGS and d claws, it can still hit mega through almost all armour

 

5. Vesta long, Can't say much about this wep, but when you can spec four time and hit 65 through armour and pray, i would say this word, Overpowered!

 

6. Statius warhammer, Similar to the vesta long, exept is has only two specs but lowers their defence by 30 whole def! :shock:

 

7. D bolts, if your lucky enough to get the spec to pull off at a whoppping 5k per bolts, the damage can be uber \'

Mismic Barrage, hits 32, makes melee/range attacks 50% slower for some time. Combined with ice barrage this is very deadly.

The need for distance creation is in itself the balancing factor. I'm f2p RS wise, so I don't have experience in terms of ancients, but the general idea holds true in many many other games, most famously WoW in my opinion. As a fairly high rated mage, I can trash warriors (pure melee) via utilization of snares/roots to create distance. However, if a melee class is able to overcome that without excessive effort, such as the rogue class via stealth, root breaking, high resistance on demand, etc the mage will be in trouble. Range I can't comment on, as Line of sight and pets are much less a role in RS pvp.

It is true mysmic barrage is pretty OP, but you need a 1mil staff to use it, and i dont see the point.

Also it doesnt matter how slow you hit if you one hit them :lol:

No, you wait 2 seconds and barrage them again. You people seem to have a hard time realizing that you can dodge a melee or ranger and freeze them without ever letting them get within 8 squares of you.

Yes, timing farcasts is the best thing, figure out how many casts you can pump out before they unfreeze, and start running as soon as you pumped out your last spell, then run for about 10 seconds before going back, freezing them again, and then counting your casts before you need to run again.

 

 

 

Very effective, if done well.

 

 

 

Eg: Ice burst once, ice burst 1,2,3 times, start running, few seconds later, ice burst again, rinse repeat, and own.

It's all about the timing; if you time it right, you should be hitting him about a second before he's unfrozen, so your next attack will catch him immediatly after the 2 second pause; you can run as you cast the last spell so you 'jump', and after you cast the freezing spell so you never have to worry about splashing.

If you wear vestas and i think a black mask + zamorak potions and piety you can hit 46-46

No black mask in PVP, and it still aint 49-49 (And it's still lower then a dark bow).
