July 11, 200521 yr I saw Reel Big Fish in concert last night, and they are by far, the best band you could ever see live. They are just hilarious. At one point they started to play Ban the Tube Top and my friend pulled out her cell phone to call a friend of ours. We were standing as close as you could get, right in front of the trumpet player and he jumped down off the stage and took her cell phone. He then jumped back on stage and started talking to the girl and playing into the cell phone. It was a great experience. Does anyone else listen to RBF and has anyone ever seen them in concert? Everyone needs to go buy their newest album We're not happy till you're not happy.

July 11, 200521 yr I prefer Five Iron Frenzy. Stereotypical ska is good, but sometimes it just gets on my nerves. I'm not that much of a punk fan anyways. FIF is refreshing since they are not really even ska, but still have the horns :).

Their old stuff is great. reel big fish is amazing, i love ska also check out Streetlight Manifesto Streetlight is definitely my favorite band. A little bit above RBF. I'm also of course a Mad Caddies, Suberban Legends, Catch22, FIF, and The Aquabats fan. If it has the word "ska" in it, I can almost guarantee I like it! :P

July 11, 200521 yr I don't think I've actually heard many of their songs (that I can recall by name anyway), but Sell Out is one of the greatest songs ever. I'd go see them even if I don't know any of the songs, just to hear that one. Goals to get my skills back up to a barely respectable level on the high scores: Currently going for Bone to Peaches spell. It's amazing how boring doing the same repetitive task is! Stupid MTA

Just because they do something funny onstage doesn't make them the best live band ever, they actually have to sound good, too. And they don't. Go listen to bands like Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, and Oasis live and you'll see what I mean.

Oasis are anything but constant droaning and repetitive riffs. Quite the opposite, actually. And bad lyrics? Noel Gallacher is the best songwriter around. I assume you like Reel Big Fish? Their brilliant lyrics repetoire includes the line: "Talking about the big monkey man" In fact, are you sure your not getting confused with Reel Big Fish? As far as your acusations go, they fit the bill perfectly.

Maybe if you respected the views of others then people would respect yours (ie "I dont really like RBF or any ska, but fair play if you like it.) No, you find it nessacery to try and convert us to listening to indie crap. For the meantime, you're probably in for a huge flaming, and for the record, Franz Ferdinand are absolutely crap.
July 11, 200521 yr Not only do I like how RBF sound, I also think that their lyrics are quite clever. They're certainly very musical--both accurate and melodic--and though they swear, they don't do it fill space. I watched oasis in what I think was a live concert--on TV, I mean--in the weekend. I liked one or two of the songs (ones I'd heard before)... but could they pose any more? I mean it quite literally: Liam Gallagher, though he sang well, really did go and stand in a statuesque pose against one of the speakers for about two minutes while people took pictures of him and the song faded out. deviantart account

But, just so you know, I like Franz Ferdinand, so you're not telling me anything new. :P Their brilliant lyrics repetoire includes the line: "Talking about the big monkey man" That's a cheap shot and you know it. You can take any band and pull lyrics out and make them sound dumb standing alone.
