Spooks
I always like making money from my aviansies addy bar drops but yesterday I thought "What if I could make them myself? However I would need to Smelt: 68,950 Bronze 34,200 Iron 31,204 Silver 24,428 Steel 16,699 4 Cannonballs 9,919 Steel + 4 Cannonballs 19,000 Gold 7,607 Gold (Gauntlets) 14,250 Mithril At present I do not have gauntlets. OR Smith and Smelt 22,861 Bronze 11,400 Iron 7,773 Steel 5,344 Mithril Now I know this is hard question but How long might this take and which method is the fastest. toast647
Gold is probably fastest. If you're worried about the cost then just do cannon balls or iron Come to #tip-it on Swift IRC, if you're cool

ghoulmeister
70 Smithing is not worth it, you lose money turning the bars into armor. I believe you can make money off of making addy ore and coal into bars, but aviansies are so much faster, don't bother. I has herd, that lesser demons, MAY or may not, drop tormented demons. \:D/  :x :D :o  :? 8-) Due to a typo, I am now stuck with 1k dragon darts and no buyer. Can I has bail out from tip.it plox?
Zaaps1
Yes, I would do Family Crest just for the Gold Gaunts in your position. It is the best way for you in your situation. Although no, there isn't much point to 70 smithing, unless you get 71 smithing. Then you can finish that part of the Hard Varrock Diary, and trust me, those battlestaves ARE worth it. ~It's Super Effective! Zaaps1
70 not worth it 73 somewhat worth it 71 + Mature Dwarven Stout = 73 = Worth it. You can get the Mature Stout as a reward from Forgettable Tale of a Drunken Dwarf, or you can buy it on the GE for 3-4k. It buys overnight. ~It's Super Effective! Kellis
Iron bars with RoF, but don't make plates - make knives, using the Stealing Creation Hammer. You'll get doubled experience from the hammer, and you'll turn a profit (yes, profit!) by selling the knives on the GE. Got me from 55 to 60 smithing, it'll take a while but it won't lose you a cent (the opposite, in fact).

Got me from 55 to 60 smithing, it'll take a while but it won't lose you a cent (the opposite, in fact). This guy has the right idea And it was i'm currently doing, getting from like 70 to 80 just to make a bit of money. If you buy iron ores, they're approx 90-100gp ea on the G.E You can then either buy rings of forging or if you've recently done lots of monster killing (got 85 slayer recently... W00t w00t) then you should have more than enough ruby's... You can then either sell the bars for a massive profit (Usually 250gp) OR Make into knives using the stealing creation hammer which I unfortunately did not know ANYTHING about up untill I read Kellis's post... Damn! But thankyou to Kellis, I will have to use that one when I smith like 35k of iron bars into knives. But it's kinda a slow process smelting the bars, best to do in Neitiznot (or however you spell it) as it is the closest furnace to a bank, but then again, smithing is always a slow process. Hope I helped a lil bit =] 99 Slayer, I don't have it yet. But it'll come.
Miner52289
The only thing 71 Smithing is good for is being able to finish the hard tasks for the Varrock Achievement Diary and then being able to buy/sell 64 battlestaves a day for profit. Torkoal_lord
73 Smithing is also good for making adamant bars from avians into bolts. Varrock diary all the way though.
Mike_Ike111
I gained 4m getting 72 smithing a year ago making different knifes. If you are smart with the market and know the economy you can get something out of it.

kdb148
70 smithing is definitely worth it, you can use the blast furnace to smelt addy bars and make a profit of around 700 per bar. You can also use the addy bars to make and sell bolts, if you are interested in reaching higher smithing levels and making a profit from it. And once you hit level 88, you can get reasonably fast XP and make some pretty good money in the process. Check out this cool browser gladiator game! What soes the hard diary allow u 2 do? Level 3 Varrock armor allows you to buy 64 battlestaves from Zaff per day, rather than 32 with level 2 armor, 16 with level 1, or 8 with no armor at all. They're a steal at 7k each, and can either be turned into staves for major crafting experience or sold for an instant profit.
RayOxide
Blast furnace mith bars, smith into bolts and feather if you want (with some sc hammers) You should have a load of points from sc if you did it before. purewcnub
You're going to raise smithing eventually so why not do it know? Do blast furnace with mith and then make mithril bolts. You make good profit. Goals: 94 magic94 ranged55 slayerAddy gloves-done
Low C
Yes, every level is worth it in my opinion. Gets you closer to milestones in the game and 70 smithing will certainly help you in quests. 1 more level and you'll be able to do the Varrock Diary.
