Would you trust this doctor to perform surgery on your foot?

Featured Replies

So I'm supposed to be getting my foot operated on. I called the insurance company to make sure it would be covered and they couldn't tell me unless I told them exactlyw hat they were going to do. I called the surgery center, the lady pulls up my file and she starts reading it off to me. "Left toe blabla" Left .." I interrupt her and ask "What do you mean 'left'? it is my right foot that we're supposed to operate :?: "

Now if he can't do something as simple as knowing the difference of left from right how can I trust him to perform surgery on my foot and toes? :?

What's wrong with your foot :|?

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

Happens all the time where I used to work. It's usually nothing, just double check.

Surgeon and staff are very different things. Just double-check with him/her and you'll be fine.

I love to meet people; send me a pm if you see me on RuneScape! :)

If you get your other leg cut off I call dibs.

If they do it right just eh... Nothing don't contact me.

If you do things right people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

Go for it. Before the surgery write "Not this foot" on the foot that's not supposed to be operated on

You guys are focusing to much on the word "losing" which he never said. At the very worst, they operate on the other foot and find that it's perfectly fine. They close it up and start on the other.

Clerical errors happen constantly in hospitals. No biggie.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Once they start. It's all mine :)

Joking I wouldn't take your leg, or would I

If they do the wrong toe, SUE!

Three months banishment to 9gag is something i would never wish upon anybody, not even my worst enemy.

I'm sure they'll make you sign papers making it so you can't sue, but (close to ) everyone gets nervous before a surgery, large or small, just relax, it'll be fine. "I don't know 100% that it will be fine, but I've had about 10 surgerys and nothing went wrong at all, except for one time they gave me to much anesthesia and I woke up a few hours past when I was suposto.

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

You sign waivers, but there's usually nothing that you sign, other than from experimental trials, that let a doctor bypass malpractice. So yes, if he did, you could most likely sue. Unless you belong to a government force, such as the Army, in which case you could not.

Write "not this foot" on both feet. And then "the other chest" across your torso.

But is the woman that made the mistake the one who will be doing the actual surgery? If yes, ensure there are no mistakes. If no, you'll be mostly fine. probably.

Same thing happened to a teacher of mine. He was about to have knee surgery and the surgeons were drawing their battle plan on his knee, only to be interrupted by my terrified teacher who said they were drawing on the wrong knee.

Happens all the time. Chances are that will be the biggest screw up of the surgery, so don't worry too much. Be lucky you're not as paranoid as I am, you'd have checked into an asylum by now out of fear of an operation screwing up.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

yes i would trust him. its a simple mistake anyone is bound to make sometimes. im sure he would be much more focused during surgery and is highly unlikely to make such a mistake then.

You'll be fine, trust me, the staff you may have reached may be suffering from a medical condition that can prove fatal, incompetence. Surgeons very rarely operate on the wrong limb.
