Lordtunkuta
Currently, i'm training Slayer for charms. But is there a faster, more efficient way to collecting charms than doing Slayer?

gun_hippy
Burst/barrage at rock lobs = expensive but very fast (140 crim an hour?) Waterfiends with zam spear or dharoks is next best, about 110 ish per hour (give or take, depends how good you are) They'r the two good ones. After that you're stuck with nechs (you cant kill them), dust devils (you NEARLY can), and not a lot else that is all that good. That's for charm collecting. Wether to d othat or keep slaying depends how much you want slay xp, and how much you have to spend.
Inuashakent
Rock lobs/Waterfiends are by FAR faster than Slayer. But you miss out on Slayer xp. .... It's your choice, the decision is that simple. [Summoning guide (AOW)] [Slayer guide] [Melee & Brawl player]
kdb148
Once you get to 65, you can try bursting or chinning dust devils in chaos tunnels. It's faster than killing them normally, and you can pick up 60-70 charms an hour that way, more once you get good at it. Not quite the payoff of rock lobs in terms of charms, but it's a fast way to get through dust devil tasks if nothing else. And it's safer and easier to get to than rock lobsters (I'm basing that on what I've read - never done rock lobs myself :? ). Check out this cool browser gladiator game! Waterfiends are much better. Of course, you're right about the rock lobbies, but if you're willing to chin dust devils, just melee them. It's faster and more effective. 95/99 Summoning95/99 Slayer [hide=This is what you look like when you play RS too long][/hide]

I was killing dusties faster with ice burst than a level 133 guy was with melee in the chaos tunnels. But it did take some practice. Check out this cool browser gladiator game! ladycai
I was talking about a cost-effective method, but since you're training summoning, I guess it doesn't matter much ... but if you're willing to use ancients on DUST DEVILS, just go to Rock Lobsters already. Once again, dust devil drop rates are LOW. 95/99 Summoning95/99 Slayer [hide=This is what you look like when you play RS too long][/hide]

kdb148
I'm sorry, I took it that you meant faster when you said, um, the word faster ;) And Dust Devils have a pretty good charm drop rate for a fairly low level monster. I'd say you get a charm from 40-50% of kills, the majority of which are crimson, most of the rest being gold. Not too shabby. Check out this cool browser gladiator game! RayOxide
Bursting doesnt work well there, end of - its just stupid and useless. @Lady no not really. Crimsons are the 2nd best charm and for an actual slayer monster it's much better than anyone would expect I dont need a siggy no moar.
ladycai
^ If you were talking about blue charms with Dust Devils, I wouldn't be too surprised if everyone camped there. I guess i"m just asking for more, but dust devils don't seem to give enough charms for me. 95/99 Summoning95/99 Slayer [hide=This is what you look like when you play RS too long][/hide]
kdb148
Bursting doesnt work well there, end of - its just stupid and useless. Arranging 5 dust devils into a 3x3 area is not difficult to do. Further testing tonight may (or may not) yield a way to arrange 6 or (doubtfully) 7. It's a very fast method for killing them, far from stupid and useless. Check out this cool browser gladiator game! ilovecardj
At dusties on most normal sized servers (1kish ppl) i sometimes have to wait for spawns as i kill them fast with melee and combat familiar. so just melee them bursting is a waste you can either burst lobs kill waterfiends or slayer. in the very long run slayer is most efficient. if you want your levels soon lobs/fiends are a faster bet Dragon Drops: 80+ boots, 7 med, 3 skirt, 2 left half, 2 Spear, 2 2hSlayer: 30+ whips, 4 Bows, 1 Mask, 3 Granite Legs, 1 Visage (Wyverns)Notable GWD Splits: Bandos Tassets: 12, Bandos Chest: 11, Bandos Hilt: 2Proud Slayer of 99 Att/Str/Def/HP/Range/Summoning
kdb148
Somehow I doubt that you kill 8 dust devils before the first one respawns, even at max melee - which, as you can see, I'm nowhere near. Their respawn rate can't be more than 30 seconds even on a half-full world. I usually burst them on a full or nearly full world, and it takes around 10 seconds for them to respawn. I watched a level 133 with a bunyip kill them, he wasn't killing more than 2 before the first one had respawned, and usually not even that fast. Check out this cool browser gladiator game! ilovecardj
I 5-10% str pray, iron titan. I ocassionaly find myself waiting for a spawn but its not that often, but it does happen. I use the west room if that matters. though keep in mind my titan is always fighting something so i guess thats maybe why i need to wait for a new one sometimes Dragon Drops: 80+ boots, 7 med, 3 skirt, 2 left half, 2 Spear, 2 2hSlayer: 30+ whips, 4 Bows, 1 Mask, 3 Granite Legs, 1 Visage (Wyverns)Notable GWD Splits: Bandos Tassets: 12, Bandos Chest: 11, Bandos Hilt: 2Proud Slayer of 99 Att/Str/Def/HP/Range/Summoning
Inuashakent
I also find myself troubled with spawns, especially when there's another person there. in the very long run slayer is most efficient Define most efficient. To some, Slayer xp could have a net worth of 0, because fact is it doesn't give any true bonuses. (Besides maybe a Slayer drop for the first few days of a new monster) [Summoning guide (AOW)] [Slayer guide] [Melee & Brawl player]
firecat318
Well I would suggest if You're at least 85 att/str to go to waterfiends, else go to dust devils, they're decent.
