Mr Whitby, told BBC News: "I was sitting on the train reading my paper.

"I heard a load of noise, people saying, 'Get out, get down'!

"I saw an Asian guy run onto the train hotly pursued by three plain-clothes police officers.

"One of them was carrying a black handgun - it looked like an automatic - they pushed him to the floor, bundled on top of him and unloaded five shots into him.

"I saw the gun being fired five times into the guy - he's dead."

Give those people a medal. My respect for the police has increased dramatically in the wake of these incidents.

Sorry, no respect for that. If they caught that guy there is no need to kill him.

Dude had a bomb strapped to his back, chances are if they hadn't killed him he would have detonated that bomb. In my eyes, these 3 policemen prevented the deaths of many innocent people.

Team ramrod, team ramrod!

In Madrid when the police found the train bombers they blew up the buiulding they were in killing themselves and police officers. I have no doubt that this man would have killed innocent civillians if confronted. Props to the coppers there well done. Get this scum off the face of the Earth.

How could he have detonated the bomb if he's jumped on by various policemen?

I wonder why they acted this way. For their safety and the safety of others, or just out of frustration and to "Get this scum off the face of the Earth.".

They killed someone who set out today to kill as many innocent people as he possibly could, i don't see how anyone can see that as a bad thing?

Surely he would've pressed it earlier then. And if the police can't de-arm the man in the time they pull him down, jump on him etc. they are bad coppers, their first and last resort was violence resulting in death.

In my opinion when you set out to kill innocent people you lose all human rights and that includes the right to live.

In my opinion you don't. And since death penalty isn't (re-?)introduced in England, it isn't allowed either. So I think it's very irrelevant what your opinion is, Matt.

Omg -. try walking in a coppers shoes for a week before you guys judge. The policemen had to make a difficult choise : innocent lives vs a suicidebomber. Im getting tired of all the people who protects the criminals before the innocents...

That guy lost all his civil rights the second he strapped a bomb on him IMO

Daan stop being so pathetic, you're actually trying to defend a terrorist/suicide bomber who tried to kill 100's of innocents. Stop being such a fool, he was out to kill people not going down to starbucks for a coffee he needed to die, sorry if the world can't work in your idealist way, they couldn't just go "Oi mate that a bomb on your back?" "Yeah what's it to ya" "Well you gonna set it off?" "Maybe?" "Oh ok then well try not to if you wouldn't mind we don't feel like people dying here today" "I'll try"

No. I'm not going to walk in a copper's pair of shoes before I judge. A good copper should get is head straight and should know how to handle a situation like this.

We dont know yet but today could possibly have been the 3rd terrorist attack attempt in our country in 2 weeks. We need to give a message out to these terrorist that we are not afraid of them and they will fail in all attempts to destory our way of life. None of us know exactly what happened today yet but Police in the UK are nor renound for short first think second so there must have been a very valid reason to shoot. I belive he was running onto a train so he could possibly have been just about to set off the device.

In my eyes this was a good thing, many more people are living today today at the expense of someone that doesnt deserve to. I dont think thats a bad thing.

Me judging this objective doesn't make me a fool. You calling me a fool says more about yourself then it says about me, in your first line you already start calling people "pathetic", I'm sorry, but that's pathetic. Can you even imagine how the world would be if everybody just started judging everything 100 % emotionaly? Think about that, instead of posting stupid quotes.

You defending terrorists human rights does make you a fool, if they start blowing up people in holland I would love to see you sitting there saying, oh we could have delt with this dimplomatically. The world doesn't work they way you want daan, get over it.

This is real life daan not some stupid game, you want to give people the same human rights when they set off to kill our citizens and children? Wow nice going there.

Also they have a split secnd to make these decisions they don't discuss it over tea, I for one pray that you're never protecting my country.

Passenger Briony Coetsee said: "We were on the Tube and then we suddenly heard someone say, 'Get out, get out' and then we heard gunshots."

Passenger Alison Bowditch told BBC News: "The tube pulled into the station and we were sitting there, you know, as you do and then there was just a lot of shouting and the sound of gunfire and then people were saying, 'Get off, get off!'

"Somebody definitely went to the ground and as they went to the ground I heard gun fire and assumed they had been shot."

Seems to me that the police first tried to get people off the train because they thought the bomber was going to detonate the bomb as soon as he got onto the train. They then must have realised that there wasn't enough time to evacuate the train, so they took the measures necessary to stop the inevitable happening.

Police in England don't just go around firing shots at people randomly, i feel confident that lethal force is only ever used as a last resort in this country, and in a situation like this, such force was necessary.

I think you kind of miss the point. I was never defending the terrorist and I never literally said that either, don't judge so soon. I was only saying the police didn't handle in a correct way and following the system.

This is real life, I never compared it to a game, you just made this up. You always do those kind of thigns when you don't get what you want. You just start making up things that don't say anything, what are you trying to prove with this? And Cj, if you can't discuss/argue in a normal way, I'll just ignore it. I'm not going to be treated the way you are treating me now.

I see your point of view. But its incredibly rare that British police to something like this so I am 100% sure that there is a valid reason and had it not happened the casualties would have spread to far more than the terrorist himself.

Looks pretty much like you said that to me

what the bomber did was, in a sense, treason - working against the country. And may i add, treason is the only crime still punishable by death in british law.

i find it pretty damn sick that you're sticking up for the bomber, maybe if you were in our position you wouldn't criticize as much. The police did a good job of neutralizing a threat and i'd rather one scummy little basterd die than a train full of innocent working people.
