wildehunter
Mod note: this is information gathering and not ranting, flaming etc. It seems like every update Jagex releases causes problems. Today marks the 5th time in only 3 months I am unable to play, more importantly i am not alone. EVERY update a Jagex mod will make a tech support topic asking specs of computers afflicted with the newest problem. This is unacceptable. With 100s of 1000s of players I admit it would be hard to keep 100% Compatibility, However, all they did today was extend to allowed idle time, rework the chat filter and allow you to move the teleport spawn point. Really? Thats the big update causing glitches that isn't even allowing 100s of players to even load the title screen? anyone else getting hit often by glitches? Or am I just super unlucky? 5% of people want an original signature if you are one of these people don't put this in your signature
runevirage
There's currently a system update going on, just wait a few minutes. Edit - Wait nmv, I can get on. Try restarting your browser or installing the newest Java.

wildehunter
thanks for all the help, and no offence but I didn't ask for it. i am asking if anyone else gets hit often by these bugs or if I am just super unlucky. its an issue of compatibility and it's always something jagex has to fix. 5% of people want an original signature if you are one of these people don't put this in your signature
Smapla
what do you mean compatibility? it's not like web design, where different browsers handle the game differently. they're trying to see what the average computer can handle, in terms of how much of a load the game can put on the computer, etc. you say you're asking if anyone else is getting hit with "these bugs" but you fail to tell us exactly what is wrong. all you've said is that you can't load the title screen. if you can't even load the game, how could you know if there are bugs? the most likely problem is that your computer is having trouble reaching jagex's servers, or that something is wrong with your settings, stopping runescape from displaying

magician_xy
Like the guy above me said, Jagex only posts news about the biggest updates; that doesn't mean they don't work on other stuff behind the scenes. Anyway, I haven't heard from anyone else that's having a problem, my guess is your internt is a little on the slow side on some days. Happends to me too sometimes. I'm 100% free-to-play!!! Message me, private chat is always on. :)
War_Junky_91
Really from the sound of your problem it seems the route cause is your computer in-capability to handle the download of new information. Can be caused by a few things: Not having an administrator account, viruses, out-dated browser, out-dated java, an over-protective firewall and confliction via your internet source. Try posting your computer specs here and i'm sure someone can help you figure out why this is happening.
magzar
yeh pal, sorry to tell you but bugs are in-game they won't keep you from reaching the login screen now on topic javascript coding can be pretty finicky a lot of times it's hard to know beforehand what issues an update will cause at this point i think we can agree the coding for runescape is most likely thousands, to hundreds of thousands of lines long honestly i think they should be applauded for finding and fixing glitches as quickly as they do when a new update is released [hide]Damnit, I tripped over Magzar's half inflated blow-up doll and hurt myself. BladeDragon
Runescript? Are you sure about that Georgelemmons? I'm pretty sure that Jagex uses Javascript. I haven't seen any new glitches this year, but I'll be surprised if I do see one.
Georgelemmons
It's basically a modified version of Javascript. Thanks to Uno for the awsome sig <
green9090
Javascript is a little programming language for small projects. It has nothing to do with RuneScape. Java is a programming language that Runescape is written in. Runescript is a higher level programming language that Andrew Gower made which makes it easier to program RuneScape in Java. It is then translated down to Java. *facepalm* Join "DG Sweepers" Clan Chat for Dungeoneering Floors | Accepting all tipiters who are Willing to Learn |

Cheefoo
They always fix those problems within hours of the release. If you can't live without Runescape for a few hours... I just don't know what you should do. Lol what do you expect from using a bugged 3d system? Jogl (which runescape uses) holds lots and lots of bugs, most people stay away far from it! First they came to fishingand I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing Then they came to the yewsand I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews Then they came for the oresand I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores Then they came for meand there was no one left to speak out for me. Jard_Y_Dooku
Javascript is a little programming language for small projects. It has nothing to do with RuneScape. Java is a programming language that Runescape is written in. Runescript is a higher level programming language that Andrew Gower made which makes it easier to program RuneScape in Java. It is then translated down to Java. *facepalm* Wrong, again. JavaScript is not a "little programming language for small projects". It is a scripting language and is certainly not just for "small projects". It's like saying C++ is only for large projects. I can write hello world in it, too. Yahoo! Mail and GMail use JavaScript heavily, and it's used for many large projects. It's quite powerful. Also, it DOES have something to do with RuneScape. Jagex uses plenty of JavaScript on the website. Ok, the second part you got right. Good job. Your definition of RuneScript isn't very good. First off, it's not a programming language. And I'm not the best writer either, so let's let the RuneScape Wikia define that for us (well, except me): Runescript is a scripting language that Jagex uses to create content for RuneScape. The game engine is not written in Runescript, but instead Java. The game engine reads other files, which is how most games and most big programs are written, so that someone can change, for example, a file called 'monster1.xyz' and then the main program reads that new file. When Jagex updates the game, if it is a minor update, then it's just new map and new NPC lists, and an added Runescript file for what they say. The major updates are for the source code, which is usually for things like new areas in RuneScape, new skills, or for bug fixes. Never trust anyone.
