The render is a bit weird looking, though I like what you did with the text. :thumbup: The left side is a bit washed out... add some more color or something. This is the guys first signature, he came to get advice on what to do, not have people laugh at stuff not related to it at all. He wants advice to get better, and this isn't helping at all... On Topic: For a first start, that is quite good. The render looks a bit washed up, and out of place, as it doesn't go with the background. I like what you have done with the text, it looks really good, and the white box under it looks good. The right side is quite distracting with the big white bit there, and it distracts you eyes. This is where you focal point is, and that is not good. You want your focal point to be you're render, in this case. The background is quite weird, but it is a good start. If you want to continue making signatures, then don't stop looking at tutorials. deviantARt and GIMPTalk are both good places for tutorials. White-Black/White-Transparent gradient like Ouchy said is distracting. Not very good colors, try smudging the render around and pick the most common colors on that or just grab 'em from the render. You should pick a better one next time. So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. However, the render itself is a bad cutout, and you also didn't blend it that well into the background.
