Obtaurian
I train so I can call other people "noobs," which allows me to "3p1cpVVnZ0r$" them. But really, I train because I enjoy the challenge, and it's all heading towards combat. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
Dizzle229
Slayer keeps it mixed up, but I hate how it's a HUGE XP jump from 71 to 81. Get back here so I can rub your butt.
justcallmedaddy
People get more xp to boost their ego. They are nobody in the outside world, but once they've typed in their Username and Pass they are Gods. They stop at nothing to make themselves feel better. Their puny arms and weak fingers, as they type 'NOOB' and 'WTF' on their keyboard, slap a sense of otherworldness to the surrounding electronic Avatars. They use pixels as a sort of drug; it gets them high, and makes them feel important. u r kool

onuasdad
You think your stats arent high enough? woot, look at me, 2 years of runescape with wc (with 63) my highest skill. Next is strength with 58 or something. Death should not be taken as 'the end,' but a very effective way to cut down taxes.
ugafan_2009
Not really. No. Nowadays, RS is starting to turn into a chore. But people keep leveling for the sake of 'self-accomplishment.' Keeping yourself busy is one thing, but having set yourself a goal (for example, your 1m atk exp. that you set a few posts above) and REACHING it is what's most important. Wouldn't you feel great if you reached level 80 attack? 90 attack? 99 attack?! That's what makes it fun and enjoyable. ;) Honestly, the enjoyment lasts for about 10 minutes. For me it turned into a goal of all 60's. Great, got that done. Next day I had a goal of all 70's. What you don't have seems better than it really is. It keeps you playing, but eventually it will get old. Quit RS, combat 104, total 1651

I think it gets boring for everyone when they're goals consist of "I want 1700 total, I want 2000 total, I want all 80+, etc." It's not the goals themselves that are fun, it's what you plan on doing once you get there. I think that when people play Runescape with just goals and no direction, they get tired real quick. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
Dr_Vermin
I see where the author is coming from. I see no point or benefit in getting 13.5m exp in a skill, any more than I see any point in getting 200m exp in a skill. The 3.5m exp or 2m exp needed for 85 or 80 in a skill is more than enough for me. Check my hiscores if you don't believe me: 85 att str def mine smith agil thieve, and soon to be 80 fire wc fish fletch cook. Once I've reached those goals, I will NEVER be training those skills again. Anyway, getting 80 in a skill is freaking HARD. I've been fishing for over a week and still only gone from 72 to 77 fishing. How anyone can train fishing or woodcitting to 99 is beyond me. Yomyth105
It's not sarcastic, I really don't understand. Mainly you get XP by camping at a specific monster for a few days, but it just gets to be such a grind. I can't even play anymore. You have a lot of 99's. Tell me, how long did it take to get all that XP? you wanna know how? give up your social life and play runescape! but seriously all runescape is, is a grind... some people enjoy it and for others its soothing. i dont have that much xp but i can see how it can be hard to get to level 80. i play runescape to complete my goals and its fun most of the times but when it starts to become a job or i could be doing more fun things i dont play runescape. i actually am taking a break also because runescape honestly is becoming dull for me and i just need to get my social life back in tack a bit... havent talked to my friends that arent close in a bit. Now it could have been the pain in seeing 2.4k disappear with every spell, but still. :P Quit RS, combat 104, total 1651
JimSquiggle
Music helps me through grinding. Also many people only train skills that they enjoy, and switch between skills once they get bored. For example I would train Runecrafting for 2 days, then switch to Mining for 2 days.

Nah repeat until you're not enjoying it anymore. It's a game after all. Indeed, indeed... Although I have rather modest skills, the only one that really stands out is Magic. I don't high alch very much (only the stuff I make with Smithing) nor do I use combat magic very often (can't do Desert Treasure yet, and haven't used offensive magic on a large scale since the Mage Arena), but I've obtained this level with making tele tablets for money. It used to be rather lucrative, making over 150k in half an hour with relatively no danger of death.
deathfish27
Well, I sometimes find the will to grind in order to prove myself. Why just today I think I beat my friend to 80 strength (I didn't see him today, so I don't know for sure). I also just find combat in runescape fun, especially when I train slayer. I also really enjoy being able to kill new, bigger, badder monsters, so slayer is just perfect for me! On the other hand, I don't have much patience for grinding non-combat skills. -.- The quest points in the stat pic above this message is wrong, disregard it.Yeah, everyone loves me! mister_moocky
97/99 range, without chins, 89-99 on aviansies. I do it because I enjoy runescape. And a shiny new skillcape and 60m+ in my pocket lets me enjoy runescape more. I do other things while I play, like brouse TIF, watch vidios, or watch tv. quit
Zierro
I don't understand it either. I thought I liked it too for a long while, but life is too short to be spending it just to train on RS, in my opinion at least. To each his own, but training on RS just isn't my thing anymore.
