Mr_Adam
Well, since I'm going to be F2P for a bit longer, and I got into a discussion about 99 cooking - and, after working it out, figured that I could probably get 99 with the money I have now. Problem: It will leave me with absolutely no money. I can't buy the cape at the moment. And when I return to members, I may or may not have any money (maybe about 700k - 1m of things in f2p - but I still have most of my members gear). Also, are there any permanent fires in F2P, like the Rogue's Den? That's all I can think of now...
Cooldude3910
Nope, but there are a few places that I trained Cooking in F2P. Edgeville Bank (outside of the bank) in world 1 or 3 because there are some people that set fires there. Our bounty hunter because you can set a fire by the bank. Imamonkey
There are four logs right outside the bank in Lumbridge castle you could light to cook on too.

ultimatballr
I am pretty sure the best F2p cooking spot is Lumbridge castle. Bank on 3rd floor, cook on the range next to the chef. I don't see any reason as to why not to get it though. You have the money, you have the will (assuming since you are asking) so why not. Apparently, my signature was to big. Fekambard
Best f2p cooking spot is in edgeville. This depends if someone is making fires, but most likely they are so stick to this.
RayOxide
Best place is a medium world, 1000 people, (-/+ 200) at the GE for fires. But for the 99 cooking part, I suggest, if you find the skill useful in any way, sure go for it. Hope you notice 75 crafting is a higher rank than 99 cooking >_> I dont need a siggy no moar. konyzulphrea
You should if you cook lots of shark in P2P. Since you will get no more burnt in level 100 with the skill cape
RayOxide
You should if you cook lots of shark in P2P. Since you will get no more burnt in level 100 with the skill cape Why would you cook sharks if you already have 99? And they dont stop burning til around 103 or something apparently, so you have to use gaunts. I dont need a siggy no moar.

jedislayer14
if you do get 99 cooking, the best place in f2p is lumby bank. thats where i got it. all you need is a tinder box to light a fire with since the logs spawn there. btw i was in the same position, i didnt have any money left over to get the cape, so i had to borrow some from my friend lol. 1 defence pure pvp vid 1: Proud to have achieved 97 cooking F2P
ilovecardj
You can either stop cooking at 94 for when you get members and save yourself alot of time by doing sharks on mems. Or work on 99 FM, which is almost exactly the same on f2p as it is on members. This is purely on terms of time efficiency Dragon Drops: 80+ boots, 7 med, 3 skirt, 2 left half, 2 Spear, 2 2hSlayer: 30+ whips, 4 Bows, 1 Mask, 3 Granite Legs, 1 Visage (Wyverns)Notable GWD Splits: Bandos Tassets: 12, Bandos Chest: 11, Bandos Hilt: 2Proud Slayer of 99 Att/Str/Def/HP/Range/Summoning
Mr_Adam
Ok, I just realised a semi-large problem. I don't have any bankspace to store raw lobsters (but I can store cooked). I think I can solve this by keeping the raw lobsters stored in the Grand Exchange - which essentially means I'll have to cook there :twss: A second question: Since I don't have cooking gauntlets, I burn lobsters until level 74 (My current level is 72). My thoughts are fishing and cooking lobster/tuna+swordfish on Karamja? Keep in mind I can't bank ANY food besides Anchovy Pizzas, Lobsters, and Swordfish. And I'd preferably not like to lose money. You can either stop cooking at 94 for when you get members and save yourself alot of time by doing sharks on mems. I probably can't , or won't, afford that. Or work on 99 FM, which is almost exactly the same on f2p as it is on members. This is purely on terms of time efficiency I'd be cutting my own logs of course - And I don't feel like doing so right now (note the "Eventually" in my sig) replies to quote in bold
ultimatballr
Just a quick side note. You can let the raw lobs sit in your GE box and then go to retrieve them from a banker. When you go to get them right click and select withdraw item, instead of just left clicking it and taking out the entire amount. I am pretty sure this works at banks just as it does in GE. Apparently, my signature was to big.

Don't fish your raw fish. Fishing is not very good money. Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP
fenrir321
Wait, you're trying to get 99 cooking for f2p? Or for being member's? If it's for f2p, that is a huge waste of cash. It's like getting 99 magic on f2p, no point. Swordfish stop burning at about 86 I think, so you can "stop" there. Magic maxes out at 85 with tb. Once you max out in the skill and the only reason for continuing is for prestige, it can be quite a pathetic situation, especially (as you have stated) if it leaves you broke. No, don't go for 99 cooking. Go for about 85 or so for maxing out in burn rates. Once you do that, spend your money on something worthwhile, like runes for those black hole of a money drains in FFA :D. If you are becoming member's, I still wouldn't advise it mainly because noobs would hate on you for having an "easy" cape. But mostly just because it maxes out on members with cooking gauntlets at 96 with sharks. Instead of buying the fish, you could fish it yourself. That way, you become more self-sufficient in the process. And if you're becoming a member a comitted to going broke, then blow all your money on magic so you can get a bunch of exp (exp rate is about 1 exp per 2 gp right now, but it could go up). Either way, 99 cooking is not practical. I would highly advise keeping the cash cushion instead of giving it up for a cape that has the same stats as the obsidian counter-part.
