People train skills to make money, adversely, people spend money to train skills.

I'd say skills, it's rather difficult to make money without them(marketing aside). Besides, you could play the game without money, but you can't play it without skills.

I'd say skills, because skills can directly make money, or feed into each other, for example, you could fight a monster, which doesn't necessarily need money for it, get a drop such as a pickaxe, and you could mine and sell your ores.

You could also make money without using a skill, i.e investing in the grand exchange, but I'd say skills are more important, as they give money a purpose.

In time we hate that which we often fear-William Shakespeare

Always only 2 choices. Why not useless stuff? Like a Crystal Throne? I can't be the only one here.

So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

I'd say skills. You can hardly "buy" any skills, it takes actuall effort and time to raise the skills to a decent level, next to money making. which you can get millions of GP in days.

Actually, you can buy almost every skill, except for the ones that are gathering/combat skills.

Dungeoneering isn't a skill.

My keyboard is on fire. Want some?

Well, the higher you raise your skills, the more money you can earn with them.

So, I say skills.

Skills unless you are amazingly awesome at Marketing =p

Aint it merchanting? or merching?

But tigershelby2 is F2P, and I dont think he has enough money to afford holiday rares. So for him I say skills.

Skills. In order to make money on the scale of any particular skill (i.e. 90 Slayer, 99 Hunting, etc), you need a lot of cash to begin with, and not everyone was blessed with paper hats to do just that.

Pureprayer, you're awesome.

What good is money? You have 50 million and I have 1 million. We have the same items. What is better? NO DIFFERENCE

Pureprayer, you're awesome.

If you were hacked and someone took all your items and gold, and you chose skills > money, you'd be able to recoup a lot faster.

Skillz.

High scores don't show items.

I dont know man... I say skills, but it all depends on witch ones.

Agreed, you can't make money from every skill ( or you can but slowly and all) So it's skills but the most useful ones like woodcutting , mining , hunter , farming those kind of money making skills. Cause i doubt you could get your money back with firemaking , agility?

Skills>Money

Sweetness in life - Friends Bad Friends - sourness

If it's ONLY one or the other I'd say skills. You can't get past tutorial island without them =P

It might not be that obvious, but you can get money back with Agility (read: Sinister key). This of course involves Herblore and some Thieving to make it painless, but still...

And as far as I know, you can make some cash back with firemaking, but not on the scale of Smithing, for instance.
