i_love_burritos
[hide=Long Version]I was reading New Scientist today, and I came across a rather interesting article. In a nutshell it says, that " Your face betrays your personality" and essentially, people judge (ver commonly) on your physical attributes. These attibutes also have chemical and mental repercussions. Before you TIF'ers go - "Oh Noes, not another n00z thread," I was orignally going to scan the magazine and put it up here so you guys could all see the interesting diagrams, but I was too lazy. Here is aLINKinstead. Comments, Feedback. As an interesting spin on things, based on how TIF look, which can be seen here LINK TO REAL LIFE PICTURES INDEX What can you [wagon] about them ?[/hide] [hide=Short Version]Based on this article what do you think about these people[/hide]
gago
(they should be named "short" and "shorter" version :D) I have bookmarked this topic and i will take some time to read that whole article. Hopefully that is happening today :) From what i have seen so far it looks very interesting. "Happines only real when shared." Mylez
After reading the article, or at least some of it. I agree and disagree. While the face may represent someone, I don't think it's enough to sum that person up as such. However, the same cannot be said for facial expressions, which may tell so much. The article mentions attractiveness, but what does this really mean? What is pleasing to the eye for one person may not be the same for another. To summarise, a persons character cannot be captured in their face, if it could socialising would be much easier than it is, psychology would be essentially useless, and expressions wouldn't matter. It was an interesting read anyway. :)
Ren0gade
it is a very interesting topic... some people you see look like absolute killers yet they are some of the nicest people you can meet. It sounds cliche, but I just don't think that people can really judge someone by their looks without getting too know them first. EdgedThesis
it is a very interesting topic... some people you see look like absolute killers yet they are some of the nicest people you can meet. It sounds cliche, but I just don't think that people can really judge someone by their looks without getting too know them first. The thing is, people do it anyway. Snap judgments based only on the slope of your brow or the line of your lips. They gauge your personality by the width of your smile. It's been proposed as an evolved intuition. Makes you think-- maybe the stereotypes perpetuate themselves. As more people become alienated by their looks, the more they fit the niche people have already set for them. But I don't want to go among mad people!Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here..."

Quoi_Tu
I don't know how much I buy into the idea of telling a personality from a face, but I certainly do judge people by their actions, movements, and appearance. It's impossible to figure out the finer points or some characteristics of their personality that way, but fairly easy to get a sense of who they are. What's fun is when you turn prejudice into a game and see who gets the most "points". Beer
Mylez
It's only human to"judge the book by its cover", can't believe I just said that. :wall: But yeah, we all do it. I do it regularly, and alot of the time I'm wrong. It's something we have to come to terms with, and give people the chance they deserve no matter what. :D
Zierro
I always had a feeling like something like this was true. The first time I saw who is now my best friend, there was something about him that spoke to me. Same with my girlfriend too. And most of the people I hate.

They might get mad. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

dragoonson
I thought "short" would be really long after the "long" one.Anyway, you should know how not like my face I am.My face makes me look mature, and aged well over 30. so i herd u liek devarts? If you look at me and feel offended by my 666-ism,think.I could be just as offended by your "cross".[hide=This's why I'm hot]The Eleventh Commandment:Thou Shalst only say "Amen, brother".Amen, brother :lol:Amen, brudda (referring to the 10th commandment)amen Bruder! i_love_burritos
It's funny you say that, because you look like a pre-pubescent teen. No offense. I think to determine ones age, facial features aswell as your frame structure and height is relevant. You know, I was reading this article (a long time ago), that, people thought, the taller you are - the higher your positon/ social standing. An example from the article, cited a study, in which volunteers were asked the heights of different professions. On average, the University Professor was 4 - 5 inches taller than the high school teacher. :)

Sumpta
I always had a feeling like something like this was true. The first time I saw who is now my best friend, there was something about him that spoke to me. Same with my girlfriend too. And most of the people I hate. Yes. Some faces naturally attract us, others repel us. With all my boyfriends from the past, I felt within 5 minutes of meeting them that there was 'something' in their face that pulled to me. I've read that we are attracted by people who -genetically- look similar to us. Often, couples have strong physical resemblances, it's kind of funny when you begin to pay attention to it.
