I did just fight one of them when I came across them and still ended up with an even number of xp. It could be because I just got an even number of hits in though, so I'm going to try again now.
March 5, 200917 yr Outlaws are encountered during the What Lies Below quest. In the quest you are required to kill 5 of them. An interesting note about outlaws is that they only give 1/4 xp per damage, 1/16 of the regular amount, so many players do not train on them. This means that for every 4 damage a player deals, they get 1xp. 1 Outlaw is equal to 5 xp. they should solve your problem : You only live twice.
