The lost city: Arposandra

Deep inside the sewers of Arposandra

My search for information about Arposandra started after i did The Path of Glouphrie, and after i did more quests, more evidence and information was revealed of Glouphrie's intentions and the content of the city.

Arposandra was founded in the Fourth Age by the gnome Glouphrie after he was banished from the Gnome Stronghold by King Healthorg after he coverd up the death of the silver Spirit Tree Argento.

Glouphrie and his involvement in Arposandra

For over two hundred years, Glouphrie disappeared, leaving only a vague rumor that he had hidden himself and founded a city. For some time Arposandra and Glouphrie were forgotten, with only the oldest and wisest of gnomes (such as Hazelmere) still having any knowledge of them. However, recent events have been linked to the hidden city, and some believe the city is in the process of launching an offensive on Gielinor.

Some time ago, The Grand Tree, the gnomes most proud symbol and largest settlement, began to wither. King Narnode Shareen began an investigation with the aid of a gnome mage named Hazelmere. Although they could not identify the reason for the tree's sudden disease, the head advisor of the gnomes, Glough, turned in a human named Charlie, claiming that he was the cause of the Tree's affliction. Soon after, an adventurer arrived, and discovered that the cause of the disease was actually a Daconia stone hidden in the roots of the tree by Glough himself. It was also revealed that Glough had gained the ability to summon demons.

Furthermore, it was discovered that Glough had hired many humans as workers in a Shipyard in eastern Karamja. These workers were unknowingly constructing a fleet of hundreds of war-ships that would be used to invade Misthalin, Asgarnia, and Kandarin. The operation was closed, and only one ship is known to have ever left the shipyard; the Lady Zay, which was captured by a pirate named Captain Bentley. The ship is currently docked at Pirates' Cove, a very small island found in the northern Fremennik Province.

Glough was removed from power, but his anti-human beliefs did not falter. Whether or not he was assisting Arposandra is unknown, although evidence suggests he may have been working under Glouphrie's orders.

Glough and Arposandra are mentioned on an ancient page found in the Ancient Cavern beneath Baxtorian Falls.

Spies

Soon after the events at the Tree Gnome Stronghold, the adventurer that repaired Brimstail's machine discovered that the Tree Gnome Village had also been infiltrated. King Bolren, the ruler of the village, had taken one in as a pet, and refused to believe that it was anything but a harmless pet. The adventurer dispelled the illusions using an old machine built by Yewnock, the son of Oaknock. King Bolren, after realizing the truth of the adventurer's words, had the creature killed and sent the adventurer in pursuit of a gnome explorer who was seeking the location of Arposandra.

The Red Axe

Involvement with the Red Axe and KeldagrimIn the dwarven capital city of Keldagrim, activities have also been linked to Arposandra. After The Red Axe's recent boycott of the Consortium, it was discovered that Hreidmar, the company's director, had secretly been collaborating with the gnomes of Arposandra. Several gnome ambassadors, claiming to be from the Grand Tree, had actually visited the city to negotiate with Hreidmar.

Hreidmar, delivering Chaos Dwarves

It was revealed that the Red Axe had begun production on an army of Chaos Dwarves, which are believed to be designed to serve in the Arposandran army. Furthermore, they had also allied themselves with a powerful Ogre Shaman, Grunsh, whose memory modifying magics they planned to use to cover up any discoveries related to their dealing with Arposandra

Experimentation, destruction of Tirannwn, and involvement with the Mourners

Arposandra has been performing a massive operation in a canyon range west of Castle Wars. Here it is believed the city is hidden underground. Somehow, the gnomes of Arposandra have begun dangerous manufacturing and experimentation operations involving the Anima Mundi, the life force in all things.

Biological experimentation has resulted in the creation of warped terrorbirds and warped tortoises. These creatures are far more aggressive and powerful than their natural counterparts, and possess side-effects such as additional growths and abilities. Most troubling of these side-effects, however, is the boosted intelligence of the subjects. Terrorbirds subjected to these experiments are capable of human speech, and the mass production of these creatures seems to already be underway.

The city's large manufacturing facilities have produced huge amounts of waste, which takes the form of a sticky, poisonous liquid known to contain explosive chemical compounds. The city has been unable to dispose of this liquid safely, and instead has begun to pump it onto the surface. This waste has collected in southern Isafdar and is referred to by the unknowing elves as the Poison Waste. It has begun to eat away at the forest, and each year the swamp claims more land. It is here that the mourners have falsely claimed that the plague of West Ardougne originated.

I dont have much information about this now, but if readers of this post would be so kind to help me find information and pictures of this quest and other evidence of the existance of Arposandra then I will add this in this thread to make it

Revealing Priffddinas, and arposandra in the same quest would be EPIC!

So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth,

These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf,

Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in,

Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything,

Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel,

Tear up the book and write your own damn rules,

Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got,

And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut,

And realise that the other world that you're always looking for,

Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door,

And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas,

After all, you were put on the earth to do this,

So shine your light so bright that all can see,

Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be.

All that was an epically nice read. I never knew all this was tied together. Makes me feel like a noob wearing my Quest Cape now

I do hope Jagex gets to the point of all this soon, the suspense is now killing me :)

Very nice read and good job on collecting all that information! =D> =D>

I knew that the elf and gnome quests were close to joining into one giant story, but I had forgotten all the details.

I wonder what the gnomish on the acnient page means. I'll go see if I can't translate that for you.

EDIT: Unfortunately, the message contains too many words not included in the translation book that you get from Hazelmere and I can't translate it.

Also, those are some ancient pictures there.

Makes me want to make a new account and do the quest again just to remember better what happened.

Very nice, you tied everything together and it made a very good read. I do not think that Priffindas and Arposandra are the same. Priffindas is to the north, whilst Arposandra is more south.

I thought Arposandra was overground, but invisible because of Glouphrie's technology. Seems like the warped terrorbird/tortoise dungeon was like a sewer. The path we almost finished before being found seemed to lead to some overground area hidden in the mountains.

Even though I couldn't translate the entire thing (see my post on the previous page), I did find out that "arpos" = "rock" and "andra" = "city." Therefore, "Arposandra" = "rock city" (or "city of rock"). Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but crystals are a form of rock or could at least be considered rock. As such, Arposandra could just be what the gnomes call Priffandias (however it's spelled) and the poison wastelands could just be where the gnomes built their lab.

Maybe Glouphrie, after leaving the Grand Tree with his small group of followers (or did he have any? :-k I can't remember), went to the elves and managed to convince the majority of them that humans were bad and needed to be taken out. Those elves who disagreed were banished and have been moving around the forest ever since.

And that would bring us to where we are today (it's quite far-fetched, I know, but it's possible and it might make for a good story with the right twists and turns added in).

Quite far-fetched? You've just taken two storylines and gone MUSH in a vain attempt to make them work together. Nonono.

The only way I could ever seen the Elves and Aprosandra connecting is if we had to stop the flow of that poison stuff from the Sewer to "save the forest" or something.

That quest could then be a requisite for the final Elf one (which hasn't even begun development yet.. >_>.. damn you jagex)

Hmm, a very nice read indeed, and very educational too. Only one thing... I've seen this text before. The exact same text. This compilation of facts is directly copied from the RuneScape Wiki, page Arposandra. And I don't like that very much. The Wiki is free for all to read and copy, yes, but you did not state anywhere that this wasn't your creation. And making it seem that you were the one doing all the research is a bit low in my opinion. :|

In other news, I like where this is going:

Even though I couldn't translate the entire thing (see my post on the previous page), I did find out that "arpos" = "rock" and "andra" = "city." Therefore, "Arposandra" = "rock city" (or "city of rock"). Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but crystals are a form of rock or could at least be considered rock. And that would bring us to where we are today (it's quite far-fetched, I know, but it's possible and it might make for a good story with the right twists and turns added in).

This could be true, as Prifddinas (actually good spelling) is currently occupied by evil Zamorakian Elves, and Glouphrie isn't a good guy either. Besides, as stated, Arposandra is buying (Zamorakian) Chaos Dwarves from a Zamorak-worshipping Dwarf. The Grand Library, containing vast knowledge and situated beneath Prifddinas, could have helped Glouphrie to experiment with the Anima Mundi, although the library is closed with nine seals, and only one has (supposedly) been broken.

Due to my epic stats, I have now started WGS (but I still hate spoilers).
