Ok, if this is the wrong section, shoot me or something. Anyway, tomorrow a public speech is due. I have to get up in front of my Language Arts class and talk about something for a whole 2 minutes and I'm not able to have notes. i have to basically tell a story. Like a current event. If someone can help me out, I'd love you forever. :P No homo.

The key isn't to memorize it, but to know a lot about the topic and talk freely about it. Kind of like how you tell people how your day went. You don't "memorize" how your day went.

I've had to do that before; just explain something you're interested in, or look on a news site and pick something interesting from there and summarize it, if you're allowed to do that.

Talk about trying to get help for your speech on the internet?

Seriously though, best thing is just to pick something you know about. You're not going to memorise a speech by tomorrow (unless you're like... awesome) so I wouldn't bother trying. Learn some key sort of facts then chat on around it, make it seem like you know more than you actually do. Use big words :D

Agreed.

Presentations were a regular thing at Uni and the best ones were always from those who were well versed in the material. You could always tell between those who really knew their subject and those who had crammed the night before.

Somehow work in the phrase "A man who has nothing can still offer his life". I did that in a speech on the Civil War, it worked out pretty well. But if you're doing octo- [bleep], good luck with using it.

Talk about something you are incredibly knowledgeable about, and as Zierro mentioned it will sound better and it will appear to be more free-flowing and inspired.

About a current event, pick anything you hae an interest in.

Say the F word on 20 or so languages.

No, just drop at least 3 F-Bombs. But do so eloquently, to prove your point. For instance, go about your speech as you normally would, making it flow smoothly and cleanly between ideas, and then, once your audience has been entirely enraptured by your profound speking skills, tell them hos to [bleep] dat [cabbage]. Or something. It works, seriously, but only if you do it right.

I had to do one of these recently, I churned out a 3-page, 4.54 min report on Wal-mart, maybe you could do something like that?

Sig by me, in MS paint, but I'm still working on it.

Suggestions appreciated

I for one would think it awesome if you did something Ayn Rand-esque and got as many quotes in from Andrew Ryan in Bioshock as possible

Pros

Crazy awesome shouting of "a man chooses, a slave obeys"

Cons

Wanna turn a few heads? Talk about the current state of the economy and then advocate socialism.

So talk about something you know a lot about? Wow that was hard ;) Good luck though, speeches can be kind of a big deal to some people. 2 minutes isn't a long time either. I remember doing 20+ minute presentations without palm cards, the trick is to learn the topic thoroughly so that when you view different pictures/words/quotes on your power point presentation you remember what part you're supposed to be speaking about next. Something else I found for myself, personally, is that without palm cards the speech goes a lot smoother and hardly had nerves or embarrassing things that come with nerves such as stuttering or shaky hands.

The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.

If you can pick your topic to be anything this may be obvious, but pick something that you are familiar with and something that you can talk about for awhile. The point is as Zierro said to know enough about the topic and freely speak about it just as you would a regular conversation. dont memorize it, although if it helps you might want to memorize some brief issues to go over so your not using stalling words such as "like" or "umm".
