Me and some freinds went on a road trip and on the way we stopped in South Carolina (yay thats always fun :? ) and while their I found a scorpion that was about an inch long.

Also I cant find anything small enough to keep alive and feed to him yet, any suggestions?

Probably tens of thousands, given the number of species of scorpions out there. A picture or more accurate description might help.

I hope you get stung. Keeping any wildlife is just wrong, it's more likely to die when it is being kept by someone who hasn't a clue what it even is. Far less how to feed it or what enviroment it needs.

@Crim_nimora: Post some pics of the scorpian some there might be something about its appearance which MIGHT help. And When / Where would probably be usefull aswell...

Actually i just realised how dangerous keeping a scorpion that you just found is. Some of the most poisonous (ie. lethal) scorpions in the world are tiny. And does your capture have any scientific purposes? Ie. research. If not your best bet is just to release it, somewhere that looks like it's natural environment, far away from civilisation if possible.

Try buying feed crickets from any pet store...just get the smallest kind you can find. That should be small enough.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I don't see anything wrong with keeping it, as long as he takes good care of it. Chances are the scorpion would get stepped on our something eventually anyways.

Keeping domestic pets isn't cruel because all their life they have been exactly that. Unlike the scorpion who is actually used to the while, most domestic pets probably have long lost their tools to survive in the wild.

There are no poisonous scorpions or dangerous scorpions in the state of SC. Their sting will only feel like a wasp or bee sting, however i must say that you should treat that insect with extreme care even if it isn't dangerous....because i am no biology major...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Centruroides species, Vejovis species and Hadrurus species are only found in this part of the country, the more lethal scorpions are out in the southwest.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I say keep it, try and grow it out... why should he release a scorpion into a different enviornment away from where he found it? That might just kill it faster wouldn't it? Pending his location.

Google is a great thing when you want to research. Find out about what they like to eat, where did you find it? Recreate its habitat the best you can. They feed on insects and smaller rodents. Aka crickets from a bait and tackle store would be good...

I found the scorpion in the bathroom...and it wasn't dieing there, and I really doubt it was adapted to living in a bathroom.

My freind wanted to kill it, (hes a pansy) so everyone locked him in a closet and hid the scorpion...then let him out the next morning :twisted:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And I attempted to care for the scorpion, I gave it the smallest crickets I could find, and even tried to help him catch them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And I had gatherd the fact that it was a scorpion. If you find a stray dog in the middle of no where that looks like it will die, you wont just leave it because you dont know what breed it is will you?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And knowing that all scorpions are carnivores it was just a matter of finding something small enough which I did.
