Well, you need about 200k exp and you will get about 50exp per cast, so that would mean that youre going to need about 4k casts i think.

 

 

 

EDIT: Since you are doing Metal Dragons youre going to splash quite often, so i would say maybe double the initial figure, so that would be around 8k casts.

Void mage prevents you from wearing chaos gauntlets, which entirely defeats the purpose of using bolt spells on anything. If you wear full void mage, you have to be rich enough to afford max magic bonus in every other slot. You'd be better off using mind or death rune spells if using void mage. Most people use charged claws of guthix autocasted by a void mace, if not ancient magicks when using void mage.

No no no, void mage is horrible, never use it. CoG at metal dragons will lose you money unless you get a vissage (which isn't very likely).

I didn't spot anything in the original post which asked for advice on how to profit from magic training. Most people train magic fully expecting to lose money. Nevertheless, I did indeed advise him against it, so I'm not sure what in my post you thought you were arguing against...

Trust me on this. I am did 4k casts on Aviansies which have much lower defence and that only got me about 50exp per cast on avg. Doing Metal Dragons will not be as easy, they have a very high Defense compared to Aviansies therefore you WILL splash often. I would really say your going to need 6.5k casts at the very least, 8k max.

Well Aviansies have a higher magic defense then Metal Dragons. In fact maging metal drag is a good option, it just gets expensive that is why other prefer to either melee or range them.

Or for speed. Maging them takes forever when compared to melee.

Maging them at 82 with bolt spells is not going to work very well. You are going to miss most of your spells, and not get a decent amount of drops.

Why metals? It's awful xp and you lose money even with visages (1/10000 chance, 5k or so cost per kill. Do the math.)
