God I hate mIRC scripting. Everytime I learn it I forget it in a month.

This is actually how I learned how to do it, in a way. Basically, starting from scratch every couple of months and refreshing my memory.

 

 

 

Now I've come to realise that it was the most useless thing I've ever wasted my time on.

So there's a difference between geeks & nerds, just like naked & nude are different things, right.

Looks can be extremely decieving. I personally know people in real life who are extremely into coding/bypasses (sadly some also are into trojans etc. for credit card numbers) and on the outside, you couldn't distinguish them from Armani models. You could almost assume they do sports for a living. They are very alert and can read people's emotions, intentions etc., which is almost the exact opposite of the stereotypical "nerd" who is socially inept and codes bizarre applications for his own amusement.

 

 

 

I don't think it will ever be cool to be a "nerd". It doesn't correlate with being smart or a 'geek'. Some computer nerds (using this word in a neutral context) model their entire lives around meaningless video games, reading tons of comic books, etc., such as people who label themselves Hikikomori in Japan

Having strange interests, which in turn caused them to be ejected from society.

I think it goes both ways. If you are rejected from society (usually by your appearance or just your behavior) then you are pretty much forced into an anti social situation and stuff like computers is all you have to turn to.

I think being a geek isn't a bad thing, but it's not really that much of a good attribute either on a social point of view. It just won't matter whether you code or not when hanging out (or attempting to) with people, it most likely won't come up in a conversation anyways. If you're good fun, people will like you, end of story.

R-really? If you can name two people who even remotely fit that description, I'd be impressed, 'cause I gotta tell ya, I'm currently residing at one of the top ten schools in the nation, in engineering, and I really frikkin can't attest to that.

 

 

 

Except for the Asians. For some reason they're immune to all stereotypes except for the fact that they're all frikkin smart.

I'm talking about the truly smart people, who are maybe 0.01% of the population. Their brain activity is at the level of a born genius, they usually don't show any outwards signs of being 'geeks', nor are they physically unfit or socially awkward. It's hard to meet such a person (actually, because they rarely reveal their other interests until you get to know them)

 

 

 

A lot of people do meet the stereotype though, I'm not surprised at your findings at the engineering school

And you know multiple of these people who fit the criterea of top .01% intellectually o_O? If you do, okay, nice point, but if you don't, can we talk about actually visible social stigmas? It's nice that a couple geniuses are also born with good looks (like me), but that's different from people who are just socially inept and dive into books rather than face the outside world.

 

 

 

On top of that, I seem to recall reading or viewing something about the top young geniuses of our world, and an anaysis of their personalities showed that nearly all of them were either a) amazingly reclusive and odd, or B) so absurdely arrogant that being in their presence wold be considered hell on earth. Don't deceived by movies and TV shows, they cater to a nerdy audience so to please them they show nerds getting laid and being awesome.

I think I watched something like that too, some time ago. And yeah, it does seem like the highly intelligent are a strange bunch of people. I know a person who's in the top 0.5% for intelligence and he has to be the single most unnerving person I've ever met. You don't even have a clue as to what he's gonna do next. That aside, he's a decent enough person; not too much of a [bleep].

 

 

 

As for geeks being cool: I don't really know. I do know, though, that in my school, anyone who has even average intelligence and puts it to use gets their life made hell for it. I live in a technologically backward area, so a 'geek' at my school is classed as someone who is particularly adept at any subject that involves anaysis and interpretation, logical / critical thinking, or any kind of problem-solving; and the few people who are good at these things get disrupted, called out, the like. School has always been a place, for what appears to be the majority, to look cool in front of your peers instead of actually f*cking buckling down and getting on with your work.

 

 

 

As for weeaboos: pretty much what Zonorhc said; but they're insanely loud and obnoxious about how they love pocky, visual kei, Elegant Gothic Lolita, Dir en grey and various other terrible, terrible exports from Japan that are now becoming somewhat assimilated into western teenage culture. (Or, in the UK at least).
