Do a Whois on Tip.it, and you'll see that it was registered in 1997. The name isn't RS related, maybe Silverion planned to use it for something else?
June 1, 200917 yr Tip.It was originally designed for something else (Diablo if possible? Can't remember). Later, it was also used for Rune Tips. And right now, it's also used for LotR Online. June 2, 200917 yr The domain itself was registered on 26th September 1997, so if you're talking about the domain, then it will be 12 years old this September (just a little younger than google.com). If you mean the website for RuneScape Classic, it was created some time in January or February 2001 (I expect January but I'm not even sure Silverion will know the exact date). If you mean the website for RuneScape "2", it was created some time in October or November 2003 from what I can gather (again, I expect the exact dates are unknown). As far as I know the "STEEL Corporation" was working together before RuneScape was released on Asheron's Call. A quick view of the Wayback Machine shows us: © 1999-2000 AC TIPS crew. Asheron's Call is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation © 1999. Which I believe answers the 1999 copyright question.

June 5, 200917 yr It's actually pretty scary realising rune tips has been about for 8 years. I'm dreading the 10 year mark. Those years have gone by incredibly quickly!
