Your first car wreck.

Never been in an accident with another car, fortunately.

My first accident was after a school soccer practice. It was dark by the time practice finished, and for some reason the lights in the parking lot didn't come on. It was literally pitch black. I backed out of my parking spot... and into a light post. Did a lot of damage to the rear bumper of my car and knocked the glass out of the light post.

I have been in one accident when I was young, but nothing serious. I have not had any accidents since I started driving, but that's probably because I'm overly cautious.

  • 2 weeks later...

Haven't had one luckily. When I first got my car, I was driving round some of the back roads near my hometown, along a gravel road, for some reason I decided to serve from side to side across the deserted road. Car started to fish tail, and I lost control, only at like 75ish kph, and ended up on the grass beside the road, no harm done though lol

Fairly major. Spun out on a round-about while drink driving and slammed into a tree. A light pole was only about 1 metre away so I was pretty lucky.

Shame on you (and others) for drunk driving. Your licence should be destroyed for that, really!!!

I have had a few...er...mishaps with cars. About one month after getting my licence, I drove my dad's car along a buss stop pole, scratching the entire left side.

Two days after buying my own car, one of the windows broke while driving on the highway (130km/h). The debris hit the hood and windshield of the car I just took over. Very nasty.

I have been hit by others (mainly in the rear fender) for 6 times or so. Since they were in the rear, it was their fault. I stood still every time, the bumped into me.

Never have been in any erious car accident, thank God!

Mine is quite a fun (for me) story to tell!

I've... uh... put it in a Hide tag, because I'm a rather detailed writer, and it's quite a long story!

[hide=Serpent's Epic Night Out]I was stopped at a red light at a 4-way intersection. All of the sudden I noticed it was getting a bit brighter around me. I looked into my rear-view mirror and barely had time to register that it was a truck coming up very fast behind me. Sadly, I had no time to react (swerve out of the way or accelerate) and he slammed into the back of my car.

I instantly called my dad on my cellphone, because as this was the first (and only!) accident I had been in, I didn't know what information I needed to get from the gentleman. As my phone was ringing, I was assessing the damage on my car; his truck was still touching my back bumper at this point, but from what I could tell, there was hardly any damage done to my vehicle.

As I was talking to my dad, the gentleman got out of his car and stood there staring at me. He was an older Hispanic man, and I could instantly tell AND smell that he was pretty intoxicated. Luckily, the accident occurred about 1 1/2 miles away from our house, so my dad told me what he was jumping into his car and would meet me.

I admit that this was the mistake that started my "epic night out," but I thought it was unwise that we were stalled in the middle of the road, so I told the man that we should pull off into a nearby parking lot and exchange information. He nodded slightly, I got back into my car, turned right and drove into the parking lot.

Much to my horror, I looked back and saw the man speeding off down the road away from me!

I yelled into the phone, "He's driving off! I'm following him!" at my dad, and sped off out of the parking lot after him. I could see him several hundred feet in front of me driving away, but I led a hearty chase. My main concern was getting pulled over, as I was driving about 70 MPH in a 30 MPH zone.

By now, we had entered the main part of the city I live in, just entering the residential area. He unexpectedly turned right down a side-street, and proceeded to drive down the maze of various streets within the residence. We finally headed back out to the main road, and he pulled over in the parking lot behind our City Hall. I parked along next to him, and got out of my car and again called my dad up. I shouted at the man that he needed to STAY WHERE HE WAS (grrrrrr!!!) or I was going to call the cops.

Well, my mistake again: he sped out of the parking lot and down the road again.

I yelled, "I'm chasing him!" into the phone at my dad, hung up, and called 911. I let them know that I had been in a motor vehicle accident, and that the person had fled the scene. The lady asked if I remembered what the license plate was on the vehicle. I told her, "Hold on... I'll pull up closer... because I'm right behind him, following him down the highway."

"You're following him?" she asked. "Yes!" I told her. "Is this illegal? Am I going to get in trouble for stalking him?" Thankfully, she told me that I wasn't doing anything wrong, haha.

Well, this part was all pretty much the same. For literally 30 minutes I chased after him in my car, shouting out the names of the streets I was on to the policewoman -- I had been on the line to her this whole time. My issue was, the city I live in is VERY close to another city, and I frankly had no idea which city I was in. So the cops were getting a little confused as to which city the streets were in.

By now, we were literally like 20 minutes out of town. The guy clearly thought I was going to give up the chase. At one point we got to a round-about in the road, and we literally were doing doughnuts in the road for a good minute or so before he sped off again! We headed back towards my city, and into a residential zone.

The gentleman parked in front of a house, and just stayed inside my car. So I pulled up right behind him and put on the breaks. I could see that he was about to back up, so I would back up. He would drive forward again, so I would drive forward again as well, trying to box him in.

Well, he finally got out of his car, and started rummaging in the front seat of his vehicle. I cussed a bit to myself -- my first thought was "GUN!" so I threw my car in reverse and backed up to the opposite side of the street. Turns out, the man was just grabbing his cellphone out of his car. He stood on the street corner near the house for a good five minutes, literally just STARING at me while talking on the phone.

Eventually, a car slowly drove by, and I almost wet my pants because I thought he had called a friend or something to come shoot/murder me. Turns out, by some MIRACLE, that it was my dad! He parked right behind me and I jumped out of my car and got into my dad's!

Ironically, my dad was on HIS cellphone to someone at the police station, and I was on the phone to the policewoman still, and even more ironic, to two people we were talking to at the call center were sitting at desks right next to each other, haha! She was like, "Wait... wait... I think my coworker is on the phone with your dad... one of you can hang up."

Well, eventually we saw a sheriff drive by, and my dad tried flashing his headlights at him. Another minute or so passed, and the sheriff pulled up next to us. A few seconds after that, two more police cars pulled up.

At this point, the gentleman had long-ago gone into the house he parked at. The one cop stayed outside with my dad and I, and the other two went into the house. The stupid lying jerk had the nerve to tell the cops that he had been at home drinking since 10:00PM, even though he had smashed into the back of my car around 11:00PM... How does that work???

Loooooooong story short, they cuffed the guy and drove him off on account of driving under the influence, and failure to do his duties as a citizen (fancy way of saying that he fled the scene of the accident!)

The one policewoman was awesome, and let my dad and I go with her to search his vehicle. We were snooping around in his car with her, and discovered that not only had his greencard expired, but that he didn't have insurance, and that the last car he had was impounded.

The cop looked at us and said, "Well, if he didn't need his last car, he won't need this one either!"

The cops had been investigating the damage on my car at this point; they wanted to make sure that it was really the guy who had hit me. Turns out, a reverse image of his license plate was IMPRINTED IN DIRT ON MY REAR BUMPER. The cops were like, "Well... I guess we know he really did hit you then..."[/hide]

Anyway, I ended up going to the doctor for some neck pain, but everything turned out okay!

I was served to appear in court for his trial, but a day or so before the trial, he pled guilty to both charges, haha.

I swear.... I'm not making this stuff up.

IT WAS EPIC.

Wow what a tale.

I took pictures of my back bumper, where you can clearly see the imprint of his license plate.

I'll try to post them later.

In hindsight, it was a lot of fun

Thats awesome! Props to you for having the guts to chase him down!
