What armour to get?

Featured Replies

Hi I am becoming a member soon and I am debating wether to get either Fighter Torso and Dragon Plateskirt or Statius Platebody and Statius platelegs. I think I am just going to get Statius Platebody and Dragon Plateskirt. But I am not sure. So can I get your advice? Oh and if it's corrupted how do I fix it? And how does it get corrupted? Sorry for so many questions just very curious.

Don't get statius, it degrades in an hour.

I would recommend barrows until you can afford bandos.

Well i guess now I know what I am aiming for. So I am just going to get Fighter Torso and Dragon PlateSkirt. Then go for dharoks Platebody and then Bandos? What platelegs to get? I know im a try to get bandos tessel but inbetween Dragon Plateskirt and tessel

Don't get statius, after an hour of use it will completely decay and disappear and you will never see that money again.

Unless you either like playing BA or you have a torso, i wouldn't suggest getting it. If you can, just wear either Torags platebody and legs or Dharoks. If you have the money bandos is nice to have, but not really needed.

Don't get a Torso.

Anyway, I'd reccomend Torag's Platebody and Platelegs.

Failing that, the basic Rune Platebodt and Platelegs.

Aim to get a Helm of Neitiznot and a Rune Defender along with Dragon Boots.

As for a cape, well, Legends is pretty good, however, Obsidian beats it slightly in stats (like +2), so Legends cape is the one I prefer for looks, but requires Legend's Quest done. Of course, ignore that if you can obtain a Skillcape.

Guthan's/Dharok's/Torag's platebody with Verac's plateskirt works well, it has the best melee defence and a nice +5 prayer.

quit

yes its true the torso's deffence fails but it has +4 str which helps alot in max damage just dont got as much deffence as bandos so in my opinion torso is good to have just you have to go through the boring mini game plus if you lose it, you can cry or say bad words to your computer..... maybe

dont go for any barrows waste of money and not to mention you have to repair it...just stick with fighters torso and dragon plateskirt and when you have the money go for bandos

Don't worry too much about strength bonuses. These don't mean all that much, and generally the defense bonuses mean more.

What you get, then, really depends on how much you want to spend.

The PK armors are too expensive, since they degrade to nothing in an hour.

Torag is a decent investment, as you will likely save more in the damage you avoid than you will spend fixing the top and legs.

If you would rather have something that does not degrade, at all, dragon is the next step down. Bandos has a strength bonus, sure, and a better crush defense, but you will find slash and stab defense more useful, and the strength bonus really doesn't matter as much as the extra defenses in most cases.

If you are aiming even lower, rune plates still have quite solid defenses.

As for legs below Torag, the d skirt works well, but, again, you will likely find yourself saving more in food by using Torag than you spend on fixing it up.

Also get some prosalyte (forgive my uber bad spelling) by doing the Temple Knight series. The prayer bonus is used for many beasts. It's defenses aren't great, but who wants to take hits, even with the best defenses, from some of the stronger creatures? It would not be your normal armor, but its worth mentioning as armor to aim for!

Repairing costs next to nothing, and the defensive bonuses are some of the best for such a low price. You would rather cut your defense by using something weaker than a rune platebody for 1 more max damage? Unless you train a lot, you wouldn't have to repair often, and you should make back much more than you should need to spend on repairing easily. I think it was something like 10k/hour in repairs for barrows body and leg armour. I don't see at all how it is a waste of money, considering their massive defensive bonuses, and nearly non-existant repair costs.

DO NOT GET A TORSO.

Use barrows.

Fighter torso sucks, to be frank.

yes its true the torso's deffence fails but it has +4 str which helps alot in max damage just dont got as much deffence as bandos so in my opinion torso is good to have just you have to go through the boring mini game plus if you lose it, you can cry or say bad words to your computer..... maybe

This is the common mentiality.

In reality, you will have to train for upwards of 1000 Hours to make getting the torso worth it.

The torso is ONLY worth it if you love Barbarian assualt and want all the rewards for the sake of completion.

Only good for Berserker pures :D

Oh, and, tbh the torso sucks and PENANCE GLOVES rape :P

Err, I wouldnt recommend the Veracs plateskirt until you're into your higher levels like 80+ all melee and have a decent slayer level since you wont need the prayer boost really...

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Personally I would say torags top and veracs skirt.

Its a prayer bonus which is ideal when your coming to the end of a slayer task and you want to speed it up (5% prayers will last a while even with low prayer bonus).

The repair costs are nothing to worry about especially if you have an armour stand in your house.

not like in runescape you need alot of defence unless you are hunting boss monsters or pvp other than that most monsters is easy with just fighter torso. yes torags armor is cheap and has great defence but not like you really need it.... i used fighter torso still now and acually never wear barrows. barrows is just a pain to me.

i would say instead of torso and dragon skirt get torso and torag legs instead that way you can have ok defence but also +1 more damge max hit.

please stop saying torso suks just coz its defence stats is just like rune plates. barrows armor is not needed unless boss hunting pretty much or doing a super hard quest overall though monsters like dragons, yaks, trolls, etc can be killed with ease just with rune armor defence.

Torso is like an Addy Chainbody with a str bonus. And if you're fighting hard hitting monsters such as fire giants, gargoyles, and plenty of other monsters you get from slaying they do hit high and often and the defense of torags is greatly needed. Even in torags i was hqving a hard time staying alive on the CT fire giants.

Torso does suck.

It has been calculated by Compfreak that it is a total and utter waste of time getting it unless you plan to spend 1000+ hours training.

FINAL CONCLUSION:

TORSO SUCKS.

2Xeo5.png

overall they are good the barrows and torso just depends if you want more defence or more damage. if you take less damage it would waste less money except the repairs but if you want more exp while training use torso
