PS3 Price Cuts or Bust

After I bought a wireless adapter and a year's Live there wasn't THAT much of a price difference. If you shop around you can get some pretty good deals. And backwards compatability available via an update is a possibility.

Personally I like some of the exclusive games more than the 360. But taking games online is where the 360 really eclipses the PS3. However PSN is free, functional, and Sony are making efforts to improve it. I think the gap is narrowing between the 360 and PS3 even without the price cut.

I always said that making the console so expensive was a surefire route to failure.

This is why the Nintendo Wii dominates the market.

Its affordable, as well as innovative.

And of course, not forgetting the Xbox, which is also affordable.

People would much rather go for the cheaper consoles.

Gimmick does not always imply innovation.

And the Gamecube was the cheapest last generation, it was outsold by the two more expensive consoles. So yes, you are talking out of your [wagon].

Not to mention that the Xbox isnt that far off of the PS3 graphics..

Well, from what I've seen on my friends GTA4 (Xbox) and my brothers GTA4 (PS3)

Yeah, why don't you actually compare two exclusive games released around the same time for a better comparison.

I'm not going to since I cant. I havent played anything other than SR2 and GTA4 on Xbox360..

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Wow, I'm surprised. I was expecting something along the lines as Skully's post below yours. Personally, I'd rather have the not so great free PSN. It would be a burden paying $50 or however much it costs every year.

Tbh, I don't think I'm missing much on the 360 exclusive games. I have enough fun on GTA IV, Warhawk, and COD5.

I've had a PS3 since last march and have never been anything less than impressed by it. I bought a 360 a month ago and I find myself playing that more now, mainly because I play cod4 on it. Its worth noting that I've found a lot less lag and bull [cabbage] on cod4 for the 360.

I still come back to the PS3 for games like Uncharted and Resistance (1, number 2 ballsed up everything but co-op).

I bought Warhawk a year ago but i've never really got into it. I should try to get into it but I'm not over the learning curve yet. Though I do remember an epic moment when I shot down a Warhawk. I have cod5 on PS3 but only play Zombies.

Really? Because I bought Resistance 2 brand new for $45, GTA IV brand new for $40, and Warhawk was like $35 new. Gamestop and a small place called Gameover is where I bought them.

Smaller chains have better prices on new games.

God you're a [bleep] head.

Yay you waited 2 years to buy a game and they were cheaper. Maybe if you waited another 2 years they'll cost 10 bucks from the bargain bin.

I was obviously talking about new games. If that point went past your head, I'm sorry it's not my fault you were born that way. Call me names all you want, but you're not going to get any decent reply from me if all you're doing is spewing meaningless crap.

Wait wasn't this original all started by Activision. The company that is charging £100 for DJ Hero.

Bloody Hypocrites. Can shove it where the sun does not shine.

If you know anything about PS3 you know that its potential has hardly been tapped.

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has said that his company may have to stop supporting the PlayStation 3 if Sony does not drop the price of the luxury console.

"They have to cut the price, because if they don't, the attach rates [the number of games each console owner buys] are likely to slow. If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony," said Kotick to The Times.

"When we look at 2010 and 2011, we might want to consider if we support the console and the PSP [portable] too."

According to the report, Activision paid USD 500 million in royalties to Sony last year which, "probably still worked out at 400 per cent of the profit they made".

He added: "I'm getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don't make it easy for me to support the platform.

"It's expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and the Xbox are just selling better. Games generate a better return on invested capital on the Xbox than on the PlayStation."

Big releases from Activision this year include a reinvigorated Tony Hawk title complete with peripheral, DJ Hero, the latest spin-off of the popular Guitar Hero franchise, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which Activision expects to be the "biggest entertainment launch of all time".

Note the bold part. Story from here.

Oh the war for console supremacy begins! I knew it would.

PS3-Cool you have Blue-Ray.Yeah, just what I want to do is pay 35 dollars for a James Bond movie that came out 30 years ago when I could pay 35 dollars for one of the ultimate collector edition box sets and get five movies on regular disks, along with all the special features I could ever want. And since when were video game consoles also DVD players? Why don't we also build an Xbox360 into the PS3? And also a built in oven! Cool it has God of War 3 which I would kill to play, cool it has MGS4. But isn't it pretty bad that Square Enix won't make FFXIII a PS exclusive? All the FF games of the past 3 generations have been on the Playstation, but now they decide that because of the ridiculous price and because they will be hitting two different sets of consumers, they will sell it multi. Wow, free online. Cool I can play Uncharted with the two other people who actually play it online?

X360-Every exclusive for it seems to be about some sort of Space Marine or some sort of Space Pilot. It's the more hardcore system with the multiplayer. But, it does have more exclusives than the PS3. It is the clunkiest piece of machinery I have ever laid eyes upon, and it's cables weigh fifty pounds. I can't complain too much about this one beside that the games are unappealing to me.

Wii-The everyman's console. Gamer's like me only want to play the Mario, Metroid, and Zelda titles, none of the shovelware and other crap Nintendo dishes out on them.

I hate every console in their own way. I would buy a PS3 if it weren't so damn pricy. If it got a cut, I would buy it.

Nintendo fanboys like me only want to play the Mario, Metroid, and Zelda titles, none of the shovelware and other crap Nintendo dishes out on them.

you mean this right? gamers have an open mind to try every new IP out there not to just close their eyes and play an iteration of the same game over and over

Excuse me? I friggin hate the Nintendo Wii. No, I mean hardcore gamers do not want to play Wii Sports. I only have one because I wanted to play Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess. I don't know where the hell you got Nintendo fanboy...I personally think the Wii is crap. So next time you make a guess about a person, make sure you have some proof behind it. I was bashing all three consoles because to me, they all suck. I prefer the company of my Playstation 2. If anything, I'm more of a Sony fanboy since the only console I usually play is a PS2. I got a 360, but I very seldom play it because there are too many FPS games, and I hate those.

So as you can probably tell, I'm only saying that hardcore gamers will only play Zelda and Metroid and find nothing else to do with the system. Hardcore gamers are not as open to playing "Ninja Bread Man" or any of the myriad of shovelware titles that plague the Wii console.

I was under the impression that you were implying people who play Mario/Zelda/MP are hardcore gamers. God forbid my mom still likes playing Mario games.

Oh but Nintendo has released a very very good game to play for money, world rankings and competition.

Although, off topic.

Hardcore gamers should play Pokemon too..

If the PS3 drops enough I'm DEFINITELY getting one

No, I'm implying that hardcore gamers are more inclined to play Mario Galaxy 2 then they are Wii Eat Cookies.
