Bad911
You guys are miss-reading it, Jagex is taking a sanction against Serbia specifically because of money fraud. I'm guessing you subscribed under a credit card? Jagex renewed your subscription to prevent people from complaining. Either: A. They blocked all IPs originating from Serbia from making a subscription. "Refunding" everyone 30 days so they don't get a complaint. Or B. They located all accounts registered/subscribed under Serbia and "refunded" them 30 days. What you need to do is test the extent of your problem. I'm guessing they probably only blocked payment specifically from Serbian banks. You should: 1. Find a proxy, one that I love and I truthfully believe is the best proxy is UltraSurf (Entire continent of China uses it). Google it please. 2. Test whether they specifically blocked your account or any IPs relating to Serbia. 3. If the proxy works and you change countries and you're allowed to make a subscription, then it's the IP. If you can't, then it's your account. The first scenario would apply to blocking all IPs originating from Serbia as well. I wouldn't worry about it, Jagex has done this a lot to prevent themselves from losing money and getting taken to court. ~Goodluck EDIT/P.S. And no, paying from another country is not illegal, it isn't exactly against the law and Jagex is only a company. Don't worry about it being illegal or anything, international laws are so hard to understand for me that I don't even bother. I can guarantee even if Jagex found out you were stealing free Subscriptions from them, the worst they would do would be disable your account until payment was received (which they have done since like, forever). ovorette
Jagex is taking a sanction against Serbia specifically because of money fraud I agree that it seems a self imposed sanction on Jagex's behalf. But, "money fraud"? Please explain. What does this mean?
Deltaer
Bad911, no offence, but I really don't think you know what you are talking about. It's not a Jagex sanction. They've done it before and uh...lets just say they take money seriously. It clearly says its a financial sanction against the current regime (government). It has nothing to do with money fraud (can you explain that btw?).. Serbians have easy access to Euros anyways.. If there was a financial sanction, depending on the terms of that sanction, Jagex would be legally required to enforce it. I really think that it's just a bug... or it might be because of war crimes as an above person pointed out.. although I don't think the EU would sanction a country that it calls a potential candidate country, that it's channeling funds into, and that it's just about to allow visa free travel to.. So yeah, there's pretty much only one type of sanction, and it's clear that that's what Jagex is talking about... Jagex would have no reason to block payments from a specific country.. it doesn't make any sense. Anyways to the OP: I really hope you pursue this and don't just give up! They've done it before and uh...lets just say they take money seriously. As I asked above, would you please explain exactly what you are implying? I am not being flip, I am truly interested in this. If Jagex is sanctioning of its own accord it would be understandable based on the reason. But their reply seems oblique. You seem to have some understanding I can't quite glean. Thanks. Deltaer
I gotta say.. it's nice to see that Jagex is STILL terrible at providing decent service to their customers. You'd think a company making millions each month would learn something.. [2010] Proud Member of Downfall[2004-2005] Former Leader of The Unbreakables, Former Member of Corruption, Former Member of 'The' Clan(...and Anarchy for a few weeks... shhh...) glasscube
I would phone Jagex, talk to a real person. Going through their online customer service sucks bollocks. Just make sure you have lots of patience because it will probably take a while to get any decent answer out of any customer service. It isn't the customer service's fault it seems, however, I do find that the date is quite odd. They did this on sunday which is odd because no new notices or legislature was passed that day. I checked the Official Journal of the European Union and the notices/legislation of the week prior to this incident includes no mention of any new info pertaining to serbia( I did however find that there was legislation passed that discussed Bulgarian meats). Strange. I think it is customer service's fault for giving such a half-assed reply like they always do. He didn't give Dracula ANY information at all.. pretty much stated the obvious.. didn't answer his question. It's left everyone here including Dracula scratching their heads as to what the heck's going on. If it's a bug, then that's okay.. I mean bug's happen, but we don't even know what the reason is at this point. Dragoon5464
I'm pretty sure that Dracula Magic left the board for good on page two, and that saddens me. I haven't posted on the Tip.It Fora in years, but this is one topic that got my blood boiling enough to post. THERE ARE NO SANCTIONS AGAINST ALL OF SERBIA AT THIS TIME. A select few people in Serbia currently have their funds frozen. These people are those believed suspect of aiding and abetting certain followers of Slobodan Milosevic in evading the International Criminal Tribunal of the former Yugoslavia. I SINCERELY doubt that Dracula Magic is such a person. [hide=Touchy political information.]There is only ONE person I could find listed by the European Union whom I thought likely to be a Runescape player. This person, born 1987, is the son of Goran Hadzic (my apologies for leaving out the accented characters), who is accused of war crimes. I will not give his name. If he is Dracula Magic--and I do not believe he is--then this is the reason for Dracula's sanctions. If he is indeed Dracula, then I will only wish him luck, for whatever it may be worth.[/hide]This sanction was imposed by the European Union on 16.9.2008, and it is the MOST RECENT sanction imposed on any Serbian. Therefore, unless JaGEx has really, really dropped the ball and is almost a year behind, this cannot be the cause. THUS, JaGEx MUST have made a mistake. I myself have had customer service problems in the past--if a mistake is made, the solution is to bombard JaGEx with messages until they get the bloody point.
