Just because maths is uncomplete doesn't mean the universe is uncomplete...added to that, it seems unlikely that the universe would ever have to divide something by nought because it really is just quibbling and has no real application....all the more proof that nothing does not exist, except in the minds of humans... Which appears to be a contradiction, since the statement is 'Nothing is equal to Nothing' but then consider that this is a double negative, and thus it only follows that one thing is equal to another.

Let us replace those numbers with variables

 

(1/X) + (1/X) = (1/Y)

 

An example of what could be true

 

(1/4) + (1/4) = (1/2)

 

This does not mean

4 + 4 = 2

 

Now you could say that what you did was divide 0 by something, but like I said earlier in the post, you can't divide by 0! You're trying to put a logical law into mathematics, which is why it doesn't work.

If what you said was entirely true Archi, then we wouldn't be able to reach as far as we have, the most important discovery/invention man has made was the number 0 or zero, without it we'd never been able to count, calculate, program or even be.

 

Zero is the equivalent of nothing, yes, but nothing is the most important thing, without nothing there'd be no vacuum, no space between atoms, not anything.

 

Although in that excact context pure zero is invalid.

Its a simplification. If you divide anything by itself you cancel it. Elementantary rule of mathematics.

In algebraci terms... x*y=x*y

If you then divide both sides by y you get x=x

Just because (x-x) happens to mean 0 means nothing...since it is cancling, which, again, is elementary mathematics.

It does mean something if for all values of x, (x-x) = 0. It basically means that you're sneaking in a divide by 0 somewhere, which is a common fallacy in most proofs.

 

So let's go with your equation now.

 

(0)x = 0(2x) = 0 True

 

Divide by 0

 

x = 2x = 0 (Only true in cases where x = 0)

Then divide by x....

1=2=0/x(or just 0)

Since your equation is 1x=2x=0(or 0x)
