shooterbob7
I just realized...if it doesnt add to your cb lvl in pvp, why don't pures train summoning? It would be really useful in multi cb situations if you had the right familiar...
Dexek
Personal preference. Many train it, some consider it training wheels for Runescape. Also, others might like to be a low combat level with their nice stats, some might want to be +12 combat levels to make people think they aren't pures; only to kill them in PvP. It's simply personal preference as with many, many things in Runescape. I wanted to add, in those multicombat situations you mentioned, the summoning levels would add to your overall combat level in PvP. : PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape

shooterbob7
even if it brought it up...it would still be very useful...I've seen a lvl 16 or around with 96 summon, and no doubt if he trained his defence, he would actually own.

Which nobody cares about the [bleep] waving. People who don't train summoning are either stupid, or just want to stay 126 F2P combat, 2nd one is cool, first one is not. hohto
I personally have been training summoning to my berzerker pure, currently having 68. If something, I've noticed that summoning is a skill that might sound painful and expensive, yet it makes training and making money easier. I'm totally in love with a bunyip as 45 def just isn't enough to keep many monsters away. Not to mention the tortoise, the extra inventory spaces are lovely in some cases. After the update that summoning doesn't affect to pvp combat, I don't see any rational reasons not to train it on a pure. Pures are trained mainly for pvp where having the extra levels doesn't exactly bother, but it offers: * Higher marginal of levels for "tricking" * Slayer helm faster than by just training pure melee * Saving food and lasting longer at many good training spots * Ability to bank more dragon bones per trip to irons or in many similar cases * Better pc boats faster * Full use of lunar spells faster than without it. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm
demby123
Just a few reasons. 1.All usefull BoB's train defence, meaning pures would have to take extra care not to bring them into a multicombat area. 2.Some pures like holding Dms at the duel arena or do other safe pvp activities and don't want summoning on their combat level.(I dont like having lvl 100s challenge me to fights...) 3.Pures have a limited choice of monsters to fight, so they don't get as many charms as their main counterparts. 4.Pures are created for pvp after all, and familiars are useless for low level wilderness. 5.Not all pures have money all the time, which summoning costs. 6.Even though they add a lot of combat xp, pures might not have the defence levels to train without it being too much of a bother. After all, there are only what, 3 or so monsters pures could train on in the chaos tunnels? Sir_Kurity
Hmm, maybe your combat level should always have the + sign on it unless you have a pouch in INV, instead of just showing full level in non pvp worlds. Also, most pures get loads of charms form rock crabs, may as well do something with it. O.O
3hitm4g3u
No use for bunyip/Stallion, combat familiars fail, tons of monsters train defence and for what's left of summoning it just isn't worth the effort. The only friends of mine who train summoning are skill-oriented to the degree where summoning is still useful to them.

Well yes, the combat level from summoning applies when you have a pouch in inv, recently dropped, or currently summoned. And if you're training on rock crabs, that's a place where you can use a combat familiar for faster xp. Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP

Troacctid
Well the thing is that even in single combat, a healer or beast of burden can drastically improve your longevity, so it's still kind of like having extra hp levels, instead of extra attack and strength levels with a combat familiar. And the stat-boosting scrolls can work in duels with no food or potions allowed, which can be relevant. Obviously summoning is far from necessary on pures, but it doesn't hurt, so there's no real reason to avoid training it either. Sir_Kurity
so there's no real reason to avoid training it either. Sometimes its better to not have the advantage of summoning. When the alternative is every passing pure to say your "failed". Despite all evidence to the contrary. They are either ignorant or stupid. Probably both. A pure wouldn't be able to effectively use a healer, since any monster worth using a healer on would rip through a pure's defence too fast. Prayer potions = Win. At combat related mini-games (possibly only on their theme worlds I'm not sure) it splits just the same as it does on a pvp world. Of course this excludes games were it is irrelevant eg stealing creation Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue

If the stupidy of other players keeps you from getting the benefits, there's something wrong. No matter what do you do in the game, it's always wrong. If you lose your battle, you're a bad pker. If you win it, you're a nerd/hacker/nolifer. Same goes with everything else too. If someone is too stupid to realize the benefits of summoning and flames you for that, how is that reason not to train it? I realize that, but i would prefer less shouts of "failure" when im just going around killing rock crabs or something. Pub chat off is simply not an option, because i don't like not hearing what the people are saying. My overall enjoyment of the game would probably be hampered if i got summoning, i can try to ignore the idiotic pures, but as happened on my old pure i would eventually get into a long drawn out argument... Wasting my time and there time, and at the end when i feel "good" about myself when the only argument they have left is "well i still don't like summoning" another pure goes up to me and says. "Failed" And the cycle starts again. Dumb pures. O.O
@Dan3HitU
I train it, it's a huge help to training as well and general all-about RuneScape. I hope there are more updates to Summoning soon.
