GCSE Results Thread - 27th August 09

Oh yeah... sorry this is kind of offtopic but did anyone take RS gcse? Cos I'm doing it (it's compulsory :x ) and... what's it like?

Well, I found it pretty dull, Some theory needed but the test is easy enough. Just read the questions before deciding what questions to do if VERY VERY important.

That's true. I remember RS being one of the exams I wrote the most in, probably just as much as in my English exams. I was writing to the very end. MANAGE YOUR TIME WELL. The work is pretty easy, it's just getting out in a coherent form.

Bless I remember doing GCSEs. Good luck everyone.

Don't be scared though, Sixth Form is better than Secondary, believe me.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to it.

...and then college is better than sixth form, and grad school is even better :D So you have good things to look forward to!

You can't do college AND 6th form can you? I'm gonna go straight to uni afterwards, and I dunno what grad school even is? Unless you mean the same things in different terms?

Bless I remember doing GCSEs. Good luck everyone.

Y'know though - GCSEs are easy compared to AS/A-level work. I managed to pass all my GCSEs with at least a C, mainly A's and B's, but for my AS results I only got a B,C,D,D :|

Yeah I'm really looking forward to it. What subjects do you do?

Psychology, Sociology, English Literature and ICT.

I'm hopefully doing Psychology too, but tell me. Is it really as interesting as it sounds? I'll probably be the only boy in there too. :wall:

You'd be surprised. Psychology is probably slightly more popular with the girls but it's a very popular subject and you do get boys :P

Some of it IS interesting, we did Autism, Gender, Social Facilitation, Conformity, Memory & Forgetting and Research Methods in our first year. Research methods is the most boring drivel ever. Especially if you did statistics at Secondary. They're like the same thing T_T

Can you do Psych at school in the UK? Or are you at Uni? Cos I'm doing Psych, Geography, Sociology and Philosophy at Uni, the only one I could study as a subject at school was Geography.

Getting mine at 10 O'clock today :D So basically I have one hour to go before I get them :P I'm not looking forward to it at all. I had dream last night where I opened the envelope and all it said was "FUDGE" :|

Good luck everyone! <3:

2 of my kids get their results today.

My daughter gets her final exams(she took several gcse's last year and passed those and has already been accepted to do a-levels at local colledge). todays are just bonuses as such

My son took 3 exams, 2 years early, so its his first experience at these exams. He's more nervous than my daughter is(but he won't admit that)

Good luck to all and i hope you get what you want

Apologies, I was using American terms, which was silly since this is a thread about British people and I am British myself. Bad internet habit.

College in America = University in UK

Grad school in America = Doing a postgraduate degree (masters, PhD, etc.) at university in the UK

Not usually at secondary school, but most Sixth Form Colleges do run Psychology courses at A Level.

I have to do AS maths (Pure maths) in a few weeks, and AS english I'm not sure if we're doing.

It's much harder then last years though.

But doing AS maths should make NCEA (NZ qualification thingy) a breeze :)

I'm so glad I did Maths a year early (IGCSE) and I got 98% and 94% in my papers so that was an easy A*. Now I just need As in Double Science otherwise I'm not really fussed what I get.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Tension D:

=D> Nice! Congratz : ) edit: and ca2, you did really well!

Thanks for the RS info guys. I wish I didn't have to do it though... I'm pretty philosophical already (IMHO, lol) and if I didn't have to take RS I'd get another option, so I could have taken Art as well. Which I really, really wanted to. But you can't have everything I guess!
