Anyway, those aren't for idiotic people, it's for convenience's sake. And if you really detest it so much, just do as Omali said and turn it off. I doubt it will even cause HUGE amounts of lag or whatever. It's quite a useful and convenient update IMO. Click here for an awesome suggestion to revive smithing! Even new players, provided they listened in Tutorial Island, know what they're doing. Its simply a minor update they've implemented, probably to distract players from other issues - such as pvp, quests etc... An all-round bad year of updates. And obviously its worked...
