Tanking Aviansies

Featured Replies

I've currently got extremely bored of slayer and grinding for the last 1.6m defence exp for my 99 which is bad of me I know because I want it before I head to uni on October the 4th, but I really cannot be bothered now to do it.

So I was thinking of heading to Aviansies and getting up my range.

A while ago I made a topic on here about Aviansies and I was told my stats were high enough to tank them instead of pray them. I was wondering if someone could find that guide again/know a good setup for tanking because I've just spent about half an hour looking for my old topic and that link >.<

Anyhoo the setup I'm currently thinking of is:

Arma helm,

Fury,

Zammy Dhide/Sara Dhide,

Torags legs,

Fully Charged DFS,

Rune RFD gloves,

Ava's device,

Rune Xbow,

Snakeskin boots,

Ring of life (I'm not risking this much good stuff without it!)

and about 3K broad bolts.

Invo:

1 Noted Addy Bar

1 gp

100 Nats

500 Fires

1 free slot

100 B2P tabs

Home Tele

Rest monks

Is this setup and invo adequate to stay there for any substantial period of time? And would it be advisable to do my Tanking in the stronghold?

Thanks to Wicked for the awesome siggy :D

Replace torags legs with D hide and take bunyips.

As long as your above 160 range defense bunyip should heal the damage taken.

Keep torag legs.

Do trips of aviansies. So bring a tbird of PPizzas and an inventory-full too. Use a RoD to bank at Cwars.

Camping isnt worth it anymore. Range pots and food trips are much better.

Good set up btw. Same as mine excluding the shield.

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Personally I used

Obviously with the Arma helm you are capable of using a Fury, but I would sub out the DFS for a Zammy Book as you really DON'T need all that defence. A Bunyip + B2P (just in case the bunyip can't keep up) is plenty of healing power. I usually brought a summoning pot and 3 more bunyip pouches. Just so I could stay without having to bank. I would only collect ranarr herbs and alched all the rune drops. If I happened to fill up on ranarrs then I would bank and return.

You are 2 defence levels lower than me, I don't think you will need all that healing. Just max your range bonus as much as possible.

I only stayed there from about 95-96.5 range and amassed about 8m profit. (This was about a month or 2 ago)

Apparently, my signature was to big.

Why the hell reduce the speed you kill them at and increase the cost of a trip?

Bunyip heals 360 hp per pouch thats 16 pizza's 16k vs 2.5k for the same hp.

Higher range attack = faster kills = less damage.

Not to mention you have to eat (more lost time) instead of simply having the bunyip heal you.

Torags only adds to the costs as you have to repair it as well.

Camping ie longer then 4 hours isn't worth it, but theres no reason to use a t bird and pizzas over bunyip.

Now that we have established that I might have a good setup and invo and that I should not stay there longer than 4 hours at a time, where abouts in the GWD should I kill the avis?

Stronghold? or where?

I'm all kitted up and ready for anything now really, I just need to know where I can get the optimum number of kills without having to swap my fury for the holy symbol that will be in the free slot of my invo.

I havent tried with a bunyip, but I have tried with the ppizzas and pots. Alot of other people have too, and reported more xp at the same cash per hour.

If you have an arma item, stronghold would be prefered. Avians are less busy inside than outside, and you also do not need a sara item inside the stronghold.

dawnsigblue-3.png

Check out one of the guides in the AOW, theres one that shows a good spot where you don't replace an arma item with bandos boots, and the spot is never crowded.

I tanked with void + DFS at 95 def, you'll do fine

I use ACP+Arma Skirt+fury+ranger boots+robin+zammy book, unicorn, and broads. +197 range bonus, +125 range defense. Pony and ee kept me healed easily.

Well you have a beat defense level. With 99 def i used this:

Dhide Body (zammy)

Dhide chaps

Robin Hood

Ranger Boots

Fury

Accumulator

Barrows Gloves

Archer Ring

DFS/BSS

Black Knives.

I used my Arma Pendant for the first while till they went un-aggro after whish i switched to the Fury. I only had to use 1 B2 pouch every 85 or 90 kills but i also used the E E.

Robin sucks, and so do ranger boots. Not worth the money unless you really have it. And if you really do, there are hundreds of other better things

Wait a second. You're bored of grinding a skill, so you decide to camp? I don't want to sound like I'm trying to be negative, but that's the least of things I would want to do.

If you're bored of grinding, what's to say you won't get bored of ranging after the first trip.

Other than that, just experiment a bit with your range gear. If you go one trip getting hit a lot, then bring more defence next trip. If the next trip you never get hit, then even it out. It's all about finding what suits your defense and ranged level.

If you're bored of 'Grinding' stop playing runescape for a while.

I dont need a siggy no moar.
