I'm getting better with the anti-social thing. Like, a lot better. So that's nice. But I take far too few risks with my social interactions.

They way I deal with stuff is just by doing it. Not sure if I should say it, just say it. I mean, within reason. Works for other stuff to.

Uhh, I tend to not realize that I'm being offensive until it's too late. Not that I'm actually offensive, it's just that people who don't know me well don't realize that I'm being satirical.

I'm too shy. I'm unconfident around girls. I only talk to the ones that I've known for a while, I can't just start up a converstation. I'm too hard on myself. I'm a smart-[wagon] at times. I'm condescending. I sleep in class (only history, even though I enjoy the subject).

 

 

 

 

 

As for me, I can be a [Female Dog] online sometimes without meaning too. They really need to make it so that word I had to custom-censor has a different censor than the f word.

Acknowledging the ridiculous nature of 'required societal norms' and the general emptiness of life does wonders for anti-socialism. When you free yourself of shackles like self-conscious shame, you can have polite conversations with strangers, have a good time with friends, be open with loved ones, etc... Just think of life as another game. Don't be scared to speak; Ultimately most people will not laugh at you or think you are awkward, as long as you have something meaningful to say.

 

 

 

The bad part is that only you can do it. Nobody, probably not even a psychiatrist, can just 'make' you social. It's not an inherited trait any more than other traits (roughly 50/50 between genetics & environment). You can learn to control aspects of your personality if you really want to.

 

 

 

For me, I realized how unattractive, unprofessional and unfriendly people find it when you don't look at them or try to engage in meaningful conversation, instead just grunting simple responses and staying silent. I don't live for other people's opinions, but other people can definitely give you some perspective on what you could change in yourself.
