Quest Requirements, Should we know?

I do hope I am worrying over nothing!

The main reason I asked this was to find reasons people had as to why it would be a bad idea, as obviously I am being biased to myself, but already "warren211" has come up with one reason people could dislike the idea.

One thing about the release of a quest for which I don't have the requirements, is that I tend to find inhumane amounts of dedication that I've never show before to get the level as quick as I can. a recent one being "The Curse of Arrav" & the 66 Thieving requirement, for someone who can not stand the Sorceress' Garden boy did I get round that thing fast!

try pyramid plunder or rouges den... both give awesome theiving exp... pyramid plunder more so... i hate agility myself... i see no point in 80+ skill requirements personally... it makes questing about getting high levels instead of the storyline...

i'm worried it will get to the point where it's like:

"i've worked this hard to keep my cape... now i have to get a skillcape to get a quest cape? *quit*"

at least work us into the level 80 requirement you know? like do 3 quests with progressively higher reqs in that level before you just ram 1m+ exp frenzy reqs down our throats

and if it gets past 85 make it post quest content... i'm pretty sure i would quit for a few months if i had to get 85 mining for a quest... i want to work on the substance not some balogna requirement that some skillcaper suggested in the High Level forums

I could of only hoped for a quest with several level 80 requirements when I didnt already have those levels. Consider yourself lucky that theres a possibility that you may not have the level for it so you got something to aim for.

No I rather they didnt tell people. Spoils fun for alot players that both do and dont have the requirements. This is exactly why jagex should release 80+ stat requirements as the norm more often than just 'grand master' quests. People just spoilt with what they can either already do or get easilly.

Imo.

God its been like atleast 2 but probably 3 or maybe even 4 years since a quest itself I couldnt instantly do. Its fun to actually have something to aim for. Those who do level 80 'grand master' quests should be admired as its the best we got. Those who achieve it should get that little bit of satisfaction for being one of the first. However slim a satisfaction it is for some will be alot greater for those who havnt yet got the stats. What I think anyway.

I dont mean to be having a go. I more annoyed at jagex that they make them so damn rare to begin with that there is even an issue here. Obviously when your not used to them there arrises the issue of what stats those uber level 80 stats are.

I dont mean to be taking the piss but I do think they will be a) Cooking B) fletching c) thieving. I will certainly bet that it be one of them. Jagex arnt completely dum to making slayer and runecrafting.

i'm fine with -85 goals... that i can manage... anything higher is rediculous to just drop on the quest community....

Getting a skill to level 80 only takes a few days of work if you really put your mind to it. Knowing what is to come only takes the surprise out of a game with very few surprises left.

well thats why i like 85... it's "in the middle" meaning it's not too high but not too low either... and 80 is easy to reach, but 85 is a bit of a challenge still

i would like jagex to meet us questers halfway as i stated before, and at least put a requirement about 10 levels from the future 80+ req in a quest between... that way theres a buffer zone for players to get their skill relatively higher rather than stressing over going from 76 to 89 in as short of time as possible...

i do like a challenge... i had to work to finish WGS and RFD... but theres a point were it's fun, and theres a point when it's just plain crazy...

You people are insane. Getting 70 in attack (or range or defense) almost made me kill someone. Is it that I just lack patience, or what?

I think all the information in-game and in the KB about quest requirements should be removed. You should figure out for yourself what you need to continue on with the quest. Would add a lot to the explore/adventure aspect, even if it stopped idiots from 'getting it'. I think it would be well worth the sacrifice.

That's going too far. It'd really suck to get halfway through a quest and find out you need 85 Mining for one tiny part to go any further.

Indeed, yet how many quests have 'one tiny part' for such a high level requirement, or that isn't completely justifiable?

And besides, what quests are so long that it would be much of a pain? Like most quests are only 10-20 minutes, when a dwarf says you need to go mine some mithril, that's a pretty good indicator beforehand to not continue on doing the quest. This is part of what I'm saying, that it adds to the puzzle side of playing the quests right and using some brain and not just reading pretty much what you have to do in-game.

Fansites are a different manner as they're avoidable, but in-game, you're almost forced to check or will be told.

Rocking Out and Devious Minds stab me immediately as like I was describing. 69 Smithing and 60 something Runecraft for very minuscule parts in both quests respectively...

Oh come on people, you don't have the required levels for a quest and you're complaining about it? Last time I checked the world didn't revolve around you. There's very little you should be complaining about it, unless you want a Quest Cape, then there should be nothing to complain about. A Quest Cape is a MASTER of quests. Not a Majority Cape.

Didn't see anyone complaining about not meeting the requirements :?

I saw people complaining about people asking if it would be fair to release the requirements early

With slightly biased opinion when I entered this, I thought it would not be a bad idea to release them early, but now I am thinking more to the side that they should not, as many have pointed out it makes the cape harder to get which is something I've always liked the idea of, just always hoped it would be based on the quest itself being hard rather then the requirements.

Speaking of biased opinions, notice how all the people against are either not into Quests or have all 80+ or higher in almost every skill, and those for still have many in the 70's =D>

We worked for our 80's way before any quest was released. I think the people who train for other reasons than for an item or a quest should get the head start like they used to. I think this is the first quest that they actually told you the requirements beforehand and I get were you might like it, but if you had the requirements for say the fally diary before and they didn't spoil it like they did here you'd get were we were coming from too.

In my opinion there could be quests that require skills up to 99s even if I couldn't do them all. I don't know why people are so mad about losing their quest capes. Maybe I have had it for too long or something but it really doesn't matter anything for me nowadays.

Honestly, there is no reason other than Quests to train most of the skills.

Maybe they should start making high level Quests called with different name than Quest that are not needed for quest cape. Those would always open new (high level) content. That would do good for game.

Achievement diaries were 1 step to that direction but even them were lacking of real high level requirements.
