5 road wins in a row for my Oilers! And my Wild are picking it up too! Season getting better for me! Too bad about the loss to Vancouver on saturday, what a bunch of brutal calls by the ref on Boogeyman, ie: Giving boogey a roughing call and not taking hordichuk with him, and giving boogey an unsportsmanlike conduct for getting tripped. At least call the trip and the dive and I'll be ok with it, oh well.

The officiating was brutal all-round on HNiC, then? The Leafs drew a lot of penalties that weren't called. At least they didn''t count Ottawa's third goal in that game, though. I thought it was good until they showed an overhead view proving it was kicked in.

That makes it 4 straight at the ACC for my Leafers. 2 (I think) points back of 8th in the East, now.

psh marty deserves it. not many (in fact, almost none except him) can last as long as he did, and thats because of the butterfly style. it takes a toll on your knees and hips (look at dipietro, the biggest waste of money in the league). his style causes next to no strain on his body and leaves him energy to keep going. many goalies will retire at 35/36 had they been a starting goalie at age 19 and played the butterfly style. brodeur was a starting goalie in 1991. at age 19. and he is going to play until he is 39. no other goalie today can and will do that.

What style does he play then? Just general stand-up?

I think he's considered a hybrid, playing both styles, but favoring stand-up. I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right guy on this, though.

I applaud him in getting the shutouts, but I would rather him not have done it. And I am certain that there will be plenty more durable and highly-skilled goalies in the future who will ultimately de-throne Brodeur. I agree that the butterfly style is not the ideal way to play, though. And yeah, that Dipietro contract was a joke.

I've been told I play like Hasek; I'm unsure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I think I favor sliding butterflies now, although just from a standing position. But I'd much rather remain standing, stop the puck, then fall on it/scoop it up and hold it rather than butterfly...

Got some CCM Vector goalie skates the other day, I'm looking forward to trying them out tomorrow.

Hasek is one of the most entertaining goalies of recent memory, in my opinion. I don't like hime much, but he was on his back more than he was on his skates.

I've never had any goalie equipment, mostly because I can't/don't skate and road hockey wears it away pretty quickly. I like playing goal, but only with a few friends taking shots.

I have the money for it right now. I'm the only one who ever has any money to spend. My sister got one for her birthday because it was cheap (Leafs Tucker jersey, cheap because he's an Av now). I'm not 100% sure who to get, though. Kaberle, Gilmour and Belfour are the 3 main ones. I suppose I could get one with my own name...

Nah, they know who I like best. If they didn't get those 3, they would get a Poni or Antropov or Belak. All of whom I also like, enough to wear their name and number on my back. I didn't like Belak much before that Belak-Janssen fight, but his reasons for that fight changed my mind.

columbus has lost 10 of 11...really hope they pick it up. theyre a good team. and rick nash is by far the best player in the west. [bleep] zetterberg, iginla, datsyuk, hossa, toews, kane, etc. theyre all great players, but columbus sells out almost each game because rick nash dirts on kids. hes one of the 2 reasons why columbus made playoffs for the first time ever last year, the other being mason. too bad mason is having a terrible sophmore year....sophmore slump, as they call it.

Nash is one of my favourites. And he is going to help lead Canada to a gold in Vancouver. Along with the rest, including Crosby (as much as I don't like the guy), they are an extremely talented group and should be better than even the Russians.

As for the Blue Jackets, I like the team, but they need somebody to support Nash and maybe a goalie to push Mason. I hear they recently acquired Clark and Jurcina from Washington for Chimera?

What's anyone's thoughts on the 2010 Canadian Olympic team? I'm a little upset Niedermayer was chosen for captain; he's a good veteran but not a good leader. I'm also glad Stevie chose Thornton, Marleau and Heatley; I think they should be on the same line (reflection of how well the Sharks are doing). Also, what's with Patrice Bergeron? I don't know much about the Bostons players but I feel like there might be better players fit for the role of 'team player'.

I live in the U.S., but I'll still like to see Canada do good come February because my favorite player Steve Yzerman chose the team and Mike Babcock will be coaching it.

Canada's 2010 team looks quite talented. I agree some of the players seems a bit... out of place. But they were chosen for a reason, so we'll see how it goes. I see us getting to the medal round, bronze medal game if those questionable picks don't work out, gold medal game if they do.
