Ways to get Exp lamps...

Featured Replies

My 99 party is going to be coming up here within the next few months.. I was curious as to what ways there are to get exp lamps other than quests and random events?

I only need 2 or 3 of them and I cannot gain exp in the following skills to obtain them:

Attack

Hitpoints

Mining

Fishing

Range

Thieving

Cooking

Prayer

Magic

Fletching

Woodcutting

Smithing

That is pretty much all the restrictions I have..

Thank you.

Apparently, my signature was to big.

Sorry, but the only ways to get exp lamps in Runescape are either through completing random events and choosing the xp lamp reward or completing certain quests.

Edit: Forgot to mention completing achievement diaries also gives xp lamps if you haven't finished all of them yet, but it would be difficult to finish the diaries without using the skills you mentioned.

I belive you can still get lamps from the digsite but I takes able so I wouldn't recomend it. If your party is months away just bank the mystery gift instead of opening it you should get alteat 5 randoms befor you party so no problem there. Also if you haven't completed all the achevment diares you may be able to not gain any exp there but probobly not. Under quests on the runescape manual you can look up what quests give exp lamps as a reward.

I'd give

you a link but I am typing this from my iPod.

Yeah I can't spell get over it!

If you haven't already you should go to the varrock museum you can get some lamps there.

Slayer; it's just what I do.
Thanks Hugger 88 for the awesome siggy!

You could try your luck with burg de rott ramble/temple trekking and skip/run from the combat events (No matter how profitable), they give exp books (Though they are designated for 1 skill only).

Just to let you know, i don't think you can bank the Genie Lamps. I know you can't bank the box you get to choose it from. I never tried to bank them though as i always use them once i get them.

But you can get lamps from the achievement diaries. Idk about any where else though.

If you hunt for penguins, you could use the lunar spell to contact larry/chuck from a distance and level 2 skills at once (Magic/ the one you out exp into). It will spend all the points on that other skill though; you can't spread them out.

I see you have a lot of Mining ahead of you. Just save up and bank the random rewards you get. That should do it.

Thanks for the replies.. I did not know I could bank the random event boxes. in that case I will definitely do that.

Also De Lille, thanks for the idea. I have a bunch of penguin points so maybe I could use that as a way of leveling at the party.

Am I missing something here?? I just tried banking a random event gift (in box form) and it would not let me...

Well, I guess that makes them unbankable (I kinda assumed the previous posters were sure about what they were saying).

You're going to have to keep them in your inventory, which isn't a big problem if you're powermining granite. Just make sure to bring a Terrorbird pouch in case you need the extra space.

Also, if you have finished all the achievement diaries, you can get lamps from there too.

If you've never claimed them, you can get a couple small xp lamps from Sir Vant.

You can also use the Lunar Contact spell to redeem penguin points, but I guess that gives magic xp, hrmm.

I am pretty sure that I have claimed those lamps if Sir Vant is the guy from the Varrock Museum.

There are no easy diaries that I can complete that I can get some lamps from? If they require me to use the skills is it at least under 500 exp for the task to be completed?

Sir Vant is the white knight in the basement of a house in Lumbridge. He's from the new tutorial. The xp lamps were the reward from the temporary "Learning the Ropes" tutorial with the three-headed dragon that replaced Tutorial Island for a brief period last year--not sure if you remember that, but players who had done the other tutorial were still able to claim the xp lamps from Sir Vant by speaking with him.

Have you done Swept Away? You get 10 portions of Ghoulash as a reward, and each one acts as a standard genie lamp. You also get a 500 xp lamp from Myths of the White Lands.

Why do you need the lamps? I'm curious now what all these restrictions are about.

OP is attempting to get several 99s in a row - at least that's how it appears by a quick glance over his hiscore xp.

Amusing that this has yet to be mentioned. Lumby tutors formerly used to award you with an antique lamp (25x xp) every 15 jobs completed; you're restricted to 6 jobs an hour, and the hour is counted in terms of how long you've been online - not time that you've been off RS; e.g. can't just finish jobs, log off for the night, then come back on the next morning and do more - you have to play for an hour before you can do another 6.

The tutors were removed, but there remain two people that will give out jobs.

So Aging I can still do said 6 jobs then?... do they involve me gaining exp or can I just buy the items. I didn't read the Wiki article fully through so I am just assuming what it meant.

Troacctid.. I am planning on getting more than 1 99 skill at once. (10 to be exact) And I was looking for ways to get the odd skills without leaving the area that I was going to get the 99's in... probably Fally ... maybe Varrock Square/West Bank.. haven't decided yet.

Thanks for the info tho fellas.

Did you do the Stronghold of Player Safety test yet? If you finish it, it gives you two exp lamps.

I do know what I'm talking about. If you read it right it goes to say you can't bank either of the items.

Yes Sonic I have done the SoS and gotten the lamps..

I think the first 2 sections of the lumby diary require minimal amounts of exp for the lamps they give so I will go that route. I am yet to try talking to Sir Vant, so I need to get on that.

You can no longer bank them.

Before they closed this loophole, I managed to deposit one... it's on my Summoning tab. But you can no longer do it, and I am unable to deposit any further boxes.

PvP is not for me

In the 3rd Year of the Boycott
Real-world money saved since FT/W: Hundreds of Dollars
Real-world time saved since FT/W: Thousands of Hours

I wasn't able to get the exp lamps form Sir Vant for Time Kitten.

Maybe missed out on that.

Did you try all the chat options? I believe you have to offer to help slay the dragon.
