Probably...You have an island with a couple of Jet Turbines sticking out the bottom. Something like a bed of nails, there is too much pressure on individual areas and so the turbines are driving themselves upwards into the island, causing the island to begin dis-intergrating.

My first thought would be to split your empire up into a couple of smaller islands, reliving the tension, though your empire would be about 3/4 the size and harder to defend. You might come up with a better idea though, that said though Jet Engines are still unavalible(Prevents all kinds of space tech).

Shooting stuff into space is fine...But due to an over developed Ion-Magneto-sphere signals can't get though and life support, guidance systems and other stuff will short out...making it pretty useless.

Mechanical stuff will probably get through, but is impossibly heavy.

I have exams coming up at the end of January, with coursework due on the 11th and 18th.

I am trying to come up with a simple, yet effective, spreadsheet for money and food distribution with an Empire so that we don't degenerate into 'I spend 50 trillion on this' or 'I have 50 billion people'

 

We can start now if people really want to.

Why don't people start with a set amount of money and we can work from there? For example, Britian would have so and so million pounds, while India would have so and so million pounds, though less than Britian as Britain is wealthier. Meanwhile, socialist countries could have so and so morale points, which would behave exactly like normal currency.

Instead of going through all that wouldn't it be better to create new site(it's not like there haven't been created any for Hegemony) and use some sort of inbuilt calculator where it was automatically updated each day how far research, population and economy has come?

That requires some scripting knowledge, not to mention that it's hard to find a good, free host. There's a site that I used called Hostmatrix, but they require you to be active on their forums and to gain rep points by posting coding tutorials and helping people. They got hacked over a year ago and bad stuff happened to them (something like that), so the site is probably teetering on the edge of e-death anyway.

There are free hosters to you know, I can ask a friend of mine who does (failed) web design on his spare time, though that'll have to wait until school starta again on Monday.

There is a site called Zoho which is like having office on the net, it looks interesting, but I don't have the time to get to grips with it.
