Mahmoud Ahmadinejad denies the 9/11 attacks...

Featured Replies

According to CNN-

[hide]Two days before his official trip to Afghanistan, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, a "big lie" intended to pave the way for the invasion of a war-torn nation, according to Iranian state media.

Ahmadinejad, known for his harsh rhetoric toward the West and Israel, said the attack on U.S. soil was a "scenario and a sophisticated intelligence measure," Iran's state-run Press TV reported Saturday.

The assault was a "big lie intended to serve as a pretext for fighting terrorism and setting the grounds for sending troops to Afghanistan," Press TV reported Ahmadinejad as saying.

It's not the first time Ahmadinejad has denied a historical tragedy. In the past, he has denied the existence of the Holocaust, which claimed the lives of some 6 million Jews during World War II, and suggested Israel should be "wiped off the map."

"Today," he said Saturday, "with blessings from the Almighty, the capitalist system, founded by the Zionists, has also reached an end," Press TV quoted Ahmadinejad.

Ahmadinejad's comments Saturday came just two days before his visit to Afghanistan to meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, according to the semi-official Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA).

Ahmadinejad has blamed the "problems in its eastern neighbor" on foreign troops there, ILNA reported Sunday.

The one-day trip is the first for both leaders since their re-election, ILNA reported. Ahmadinejad's re-election last summer prompted thousands to take to the streets of Tehran in protest.[/hide]

I was kind of surprised to find out he denies the 9/11 attacks. I mean, it couldn't have done any good to his reputation in the world. You'd expect a leader of a country (any country) not to want that.

I especially want to hear the American TIFers' opinions here :o.

i've heard that he also denied the holocaust during WW2.

ignore him.

..... WHAT, exactly, is he denying about the 9/11 attacks? I find it very hard to believe that even HE would be stupid enough to think something that was broadcasted live on international television was faked, but I might be able to make sense of him if he thinks the thing was a rig-job. There's a lot of people in the country who subscribe to that particular opinion (and some of them are very convincing with their arguments), to be honest. Really, I'd like more info than just that. Still, though. Keep in mind that it IS Mahmoud Ahmadinnerjacket that we're speaking of; it's not like we're expecting anything all that intelligent from this guy. He's basically the Iranian Bush, as far as I can tell.

He didn't deny the fact that it happend, he said it was the USA who planned it in the first place.

Well knowing him, it isn't a new view or a new idea. He has said this kind of thing countless times in the past and i'm surprised it has made the news. It must be a slow news day for CNN. He is one of the most anti-West leaders in the world, he has very extreme views on corruption of the American presidency and its leaders. It really isn't anything new from him.

Excactly, nobody should be surprised with the rubbish he comes out with, especially with all the post election trouble and how split Iran is. People forget that much of Ahmadinejad's apeal is his anti-western views so he often plays up to his core audience to maintain their support. It's interesting that after 9/11, Iran was one of the first Islamic nations to condemn the attack (along with Libya). That just shows the difference in the style of Ahmadinejad compared to Khatami (his predecessor as President).

9/11 never happened. I was in new York that day. Nothing of particular interest happened.

Hiroshima? What's that? Never heard of it.

9/11 was really a controlled demolition. Every single person in New york that day was payed off to say it was a plane. That's where the national debt came from; that's right, China doesn't exist. The Olympics were staged in a warehouse in LA, that's why there was so much pollution. Also, Michael Phelps is a robot.
